Recruiting the names in the subject title (Wellingham, Savage, Stevens, Gumbleton, Otten, Russell & Draft Picks) will give us a team capable of rising up the ladder.

Yes there are injury risks associated with Gumbleton & Otten but an opportunity to play should be appealing to those two. Gumbleton might be able to free up Watts, Clark, Howe etc. & Otten is a young ready made replacement for Rivers if he elects to go via free agency.

Wellingham is a versatile hard working midfielder (we don’t have a heap of those) and young enough to be around in 5 years time. Russell could be an upgrade to our HBF ball users (Joel Macdonald could be in trouble). Stevens deserves an opportunity to play and we might be able to give him that chance & Savage would be great as a forward/change midfielder.

Of course we will recruit 3-4 good kids as well. Including the ready to go Jack Viney.

We’ll lose some players and/or picks to recruit these blokes but it could give us a team that is capable of moving us in the direction of finals football.

I’d be happy to start 2013 with this team:

Garland, Frawley, _______

Otten, T.McDonald, Russell

Trengove, Jones, Watts

Howe, Gumbleton, Blease

Savage, Clark, ______

Jamar, Grimes, Wellingham

McKenzie, Stevens, ________, ________

Fill the gaps with recruits and carry-overs:

Likely departures: Moloney, Bate, Rivers, Cook, Jurrah etc.

I know this thread is similar to others, my apologies for this… But I think it has a place.

Go and get them Demons – we are ready and waiting to taste the sweetness of victory again.

I like, I have said it before Ashley Smith on the HB would be a good pick up.Also dont forget D Nicholson in the BP has had a good year.

I can only hope we pull these sort of players.

Can we add Clinton Young to this list? I just think he is a real sleeper, not getting much of a game with a very strong Hawks side. Not much being said. Anyone aware of his contractual status?

I have a few hardcore Carlton mates who all say Jordan Russell is hopeless so I'm a bit put off by that.

Also don't be suprised to see Taggert & Evans getting games next year, both have had a terrible run with injury but both can play.

Not sure if it is a case of Clint Young not being given a chance, Didn't he have a fair whack of injuries last year and leading into this year with an interrupted pre season? Pretty certain as soon as he was fit Clarko bought him in, he knows how good his disposal is.

Young is a free agent I am pretty sure, but I can't tell you if it is restricted or unrestricted. (Am sure someone here could though)

Unrestricted - 8yrs or more on list and wouldn't be in the top 25% of highest paid players at the club. If he was under 8 years he wouldnt be a FA.

Happy to stand corrected though.

Heard similar and those dreaded two words - 'confidence player'

We already have too many of those
