The Grant Weeks Thread

Grant Weeks of Golden Square in the Bendigo football league kicked 21 goals last week and is on a season tally of 130. Kicked 157 in 2010 (?) and rarely kicks less than 5 or 6. I think there may have been discussion about him a couple of years ago but he wasn't picked up by anyone obviously. He is 24, 189cms and 98 kgs so definitely has a presence in the forward line and splits packs. So in the event that we don't pick up Cloke or any other ready made KPF, would he be worth a crack on the rookie list?

Obviously he can play footy, sounds like a natural. I would rookie him. It's sound like he is built like a.jaokovich.

hmm massive step up just ask leigh williams.

Don't thInk Leigh was as prolific with his goal kicking, but Leigh hasn't been too bad when he's actually been on the field.

Agree Williams is actually starting to show something after an illness marred campaign.

Weeks is good player and definitely worth rookieing, but he doesnt want to play AFL football, he is satisfied with his couple of thousand a game from his country side and working on his farm.

Do you know this for a fact or is it just speculative? Fair enough of course and it would offer one explanation as to why no one has picked him up yet.

Can totally understand that the AFL lifestyle is not for many.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
