I agree Jackie, although I am not convinced on Neeld. I also wonder whether some on the Board may be part of the problem?

I think Neeld has walked into an impossible situation, almost set up for failure for an inexperienced coach. And I agree that the board could be part of the problem. They seem weak and dance to CS's tune all too readily.

I don't think our list is too bad and Neeld could be a good coach too. What is obvious to me the players are not playing for the club and they haven't since last year. That I blame on an incompetent self serving administration who have betrayed the players and dragged this club down to the lowest possible level. I can expect ongoing mediocrity sprinkled with regular scapegoats continuing for as long as the current old boys administration remains. Hopefully the board will come to their senses soon and rid the club of these turbulent meddlers soon. The future of the club is at the crossroads.

I was hoping this would be dealt with and we could move on, but I am resigned now that with some luck it will be when contracts are due later this year. Then we can really get rolling. Also agree with Hardnut that some on the board may be a problem.

A strong president and top class CEO really set the platform for a strong club. I don't know about McLardy yet but I would be throwing everything at Cook to get him to the club.

Hardnut I was actually on "the Grassy Knoll" 3 weeks ago.

Interesting bit of history.

  • REPORT: St. Kilda

One of the big stories of the AFL off-season was the spending spree of Melbourne’s Round 1 opponent, St Kilda. They splashed out heavily, first to retain Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera - the hero of last year’s epic come-from-behind miracle victory -turning him into a $2 million man. They then effectively took out an expensive overdraft to recruit a string of expensive players from other clubs. It was a risky investment strategy and, although it’s still early days, it certainly failed to pay off in Sunday’s season opener, with much of the glitter turning to fool’s gold.
