I'd say if the Devils can win game 6, they'll win the series. Come on LA...just one more win!!!

The Ice Hockey is a lot like Soccer in that it's a flip of the coin to predict a win - esp when 2 good teams go at each other . I reckon that's the strength of both sports .

When it's low scoring it just adds to the tension . It's an acquired taste and needs patience but todays game just exemplified how you don't need a lot of scoring for a sport to be entertaining .

The Devils have done well to work their way back into the series . LA might just have a few doubts now - they've been on a magic ride till now . Once again the 1st goal in game 6 could be telling . Go Devils !!

Kings smashed out the final game in commanding fashion, good for them (booooo!!!) they were clearly the best team of the play offs and got the chocolates on home ice!

No more hockey for a while which sucks at it took some of my attention from the Dees..

Yep , well done to LA . Fully deserved victory - they might have been the 15th or 16th best team in the regular season but it never seemed to bother these blokes . Just goes to show what can happen when a team gets hot in the playoffs .

Now I'm looking forward to when the free agent and trading excitement begins. Looks like Rick Nash will be heading to the New York Rangers, while Luongo is also likely to be on the move.

Just got back from 3 weeks in the US, the last week at Disneyland. I think I saw more people wearing LA Kings gear in that week than I did at a Kings game a few years ago. They love a winner! Oh, and Quick -amazing performance. When isn't the cup won by a team with a red hot goaltender? Seems to happen every year.

Syd 12 yr contract... I'm sure it is full of step clauses and potential buy outs before the 12 yrs is over but wow.

"The Penguins and their superstar center agreed to a 12-year, $104.4 million contract Thursday that will keep Sid the Kid in a black sweater until he's Sid the Old Man."

His manager gets to pocket more than $5m of that. Ridiculous.

I had the same experience. When I was flying down to Australia, there was no LAK merchandise to be found anywhere in LAX. On the return, though, the Kings were the pride of everything in the airport, including Wolfgang Puck!

He's been rewarded with a 10 year contract!

Rumour has it that Martin Brodeur is going to be testing the free agent market on July 1. He'll most likely be joined by his team mate and captain, Parise. I wonder how the NJD will do next year if they lose 2 of their most important players...

The team is struggling for cash too with bank loan issues and the NHL potentially looking to take it off the owners hands.

The two big UFAs (Parise and Suter) both signed identical 13 year/ $98m contracts with the Minnesota Wild.

A funny fact: Both Parise and Suter are 27 years old. The combined goal total from the past season of all the NHLers who were 27 13 years ago is ZERO.

And so another lockout begins. Pathetic leadership, greedy filth bags all around - once again the biggest losers are the fans. Bettman needs to fall on his sword.

I doubt this one will last the whole season, but I find it amazing that Bettman has overseen 2 lockouts in the span of less than 10 years. Surely his job will be on the line if this isn't resolved promptly.

Just heard that all games through Dec 14 have been wiped . And the All-Star game has been cancelled outright .

Do those involved even consider the fans ? Are we gonna have any games at all ?

Here's the latest from the Huffington Post

It's ridiculous. The two sides are $182m apart over five years. The cancellation of games for the next two weeks is costing the owners $266m and the players $126m.

The lockout's officially over! Teams are expected to play a 48 game season in addition to the regular playoff fixture. The schedule should be released in the coming days.

Was in Canada from the 29th of November til the 16th of January... Had to go and watch the '67's to get my hockey fix...

Although, was having randoms come up and congratulate me when in Florida while wearing my sens jersey after the end to the lockout was announced.

Similar sort of luck...Ottawa hasn't EVER won...worse than the Dees!

I've hated Ottawa since they met the Leafs about 4 years in a row in the playoffs...it's a great rivalry! Well, it was. They haven't played in the playoffs since then and the Sens have had the upper hand in recent years. Can't wait until the next time we face you guys in the playoffs!

How are the leafs looking this year? Hopefully they can clash in the playoffs this year, as long as the Sens can keep Karlsson et al on the ice most of the season, and the young guys step up again.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
