Jazz, It's Not Dead, It Just Smells Funny - Jack Jack's Jazz

Decent combo here with Herbie Hancock and John Mayer . I think this is jazz ? It's certainly funky

It's got the funky alright. Nice one. That John Mayer is a clever bugger.

On a side note I saw Joss Stone at the Notes From The Hard Road concert last year. Incredible voice.

Must have a listen to some of Joss Stone's music . I've made a note !

Here's a track from Steely Dan ( probably my all time favourite band / Duo ).

Their songs are a mix of jazz/funk/rock and in all reality they have their own genre . Was going to post it on "Nuggets music videos" ( 3rd person!?) but it may be more suited on this thread .

It's their last track from their last recorded studio album . Slide show is a bit odd but it's best to close your eyes with this song !

Here's one from Herbie Hancock. I've only just started listening to a few of his tunes on Youtube, but I think I may have to get my hands on one or two of his albums.

This is part 2 of the song Chameleon. Part 1 is a pretty cool rambling funk song. Part 2 is a bit more up tempo.

Gotta love the funk.

Have seen 2001 so many times - great sci-fi . Richard Strauss' original was magnificent but the funky version was great as well .

Here's some more funky jazz from the "Down to the Bone" crew . Think they're still kickin around too .

I guess I would be struggling to debate that this is Soul Jazz. Maybe I could argue that ... nuh. Got nuthing.

But i like this thread, and I really get a kick when Tom looks at the hippie and sings that he should cut his hair. Check the fashions! Tom seems to dress to the left. And old shaky neil looks totally strung out. CSN in town at present too.

Nice one Franky. Let's put that one down as quasi jazz.

I've not listened to a lot of CSN but I have Graham Nash's Songs for Beginners. It's got some great guest appearances, David Crosby, Jerry Garcia and Neil Young to name a few. Military Madness is right up there as one of my favourite songs. I may have to post it on Macca's thread.

Good video Franky and a good combo . Liked the song as well obviously .

Was watching the Wales/England 6 nations match this morning on replay and there was Tom , looking resplendent in the crowd ! Beaming smile in the end as well .

Cheers ®

Here are a couple I quite like... firstly an Anglo/Japanese collaboration known as United Future Organization "I Love My Baby, My Baby Loves Jazz":

King Crimson Jazz Trio with "21st Century Schizoid Man" (as, if you know the original, you have never heard it before):

I've just stumbled on the soundtrack to the movie Lialeh. It's by the legendary session drummer Bernard "Pretty" Purdie. From what I understand it's probably his first true solo album.

The movie Lialeh was apparently described as the first black porn movie. And, believe what you will, I've never seen the movie and didn't discover the album by watching it.

And how about that Peggy Lee ... this song helped launch her career. A huge hit back in the early 40's.

Peggy came from North Dakota and was married 4 times. Other notable Peggy Lee hits were "Fever", "Heart", "Is that all there is" and her first no.1 hit "Somebody else is taking my place."

A super talent was Peggy Lee ...

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
