Eddie Declares War on GWS

Featured Replies

Heard Pendles on the radio talking about turning up for pre season and walking into the club and seeing no Malthouse but Rocket and Harvey sitting there. He said it sure was a strange feeling seeing no Mick, but you know what he meant......come over to the Dees Scott....

Not so sure. Malthouse, Neeld, Watters all gone ... new first-year coach, been to the well one too many times? Interesting that Rawlings had the choice between Pies and Dees and chose us.

Sure, Eddie has done well, but they're the Man U and Barcelona of AFL, so it's not all that unexpected.

We can only hope that these factors plus the question hanging over the Pendlebury contract will unsettle them enough but I doubt it. As has been mentioned many times in many threads, a culture of professionalism and success is at the Filth. The biggest risk there now is FIGJAMs ego upsetting the apple cart.

I also believe Pendlebury will handle the next twelve months much better than stupid did. He has seen how not to leave your club and his management will handle it accordingly.

But how many ways can you really go about leaving a club while leaving a good impression?

The only way I see it is that he will continue to deny it until it's late in the season and the pressure becomes to much, before saying that he has agreed to a contract and will be a GWS player. I can't wait to see Eddie's reaction.

Tell club senior management of your intentions. Let them deal with the handling of it. You're end of the bargain is to give 100% performance for the remainder of the season.

If the club feels it is best to expose the situation then so be it. You're only comment for the rest of the year is, "I'm leaving at the end of the season, I have no further comments to make until then. The club and my manager will handle this from now on."

I would've been satisfied if stupid had handled it this way.

My preferred scenario is for GW$ to drive up his price so much that the Pies are forced to pay heaps, thus leaving the Northern Filth without the player and the Southern Filth with the task of trying to keep him without losing other good players.

May they both end up rooted with the Pies playing Pendles + 21 Irishmen and GWS wondering why they paid so much for somebody whose knee exploded one minute into round one.

Forget the haunting of Round 11 — we’ve got this. Melbourne returns to its inner-city fortress for its milestone 100th AFLW match, carrying a formidable 10–2 record at IKON Stadium. Brisbane’s record at the venue is more balanced: 4 wins, 4 losses and a draw.

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
