I'm over in Anaheim LA for the NAMM music show. I saw these guys the other day. Thought they were pretty good (They sound heaps better live).

Well "grazman" , post a song or 2 and join the rest of the crew . Don't reckon we've seen a song from "The Boss" or Pearl Jam yet . And The Black Keys are great .

Papa Roach are a band from California . They originally formed in 1993 .

Not exactly a music video as such, but Axis of Awesome are too good to miss. Plus it makes you realise how everything we listen to, essentially sounds the same.

Also, you might recognise the song at 5:03 :P

I seem to be in the habit of discovering artists too late. Got on to Little Birdy last year (or was it the year before?) just after they announced an indefinite hiatus.

Katy Steele has such an incredible voice. Amazing song.

I regularly find myself cuing up their albums with some Josh Pyke and a few other folky bands.

Nice work Deez Nutz , Jaded , H_T and JJ .

This is the Foo Fighters latest offering called "These Days" . Currently no.2 on the Billboard top 25 rock songs chart .

It's their 4th single from their "Wasting Light" album that was released April 2011 .

The other singles were "Rope" , "Walk" and "Arlandria" but I reckon "These Days" is the best of the 4 .

Brand new hit for Van Halen called "Tattoo"

Was I reading somewhere that they where hitting our shores for a new tour? Would be worth seeing.

On principle I dislike a lot of RnB/Rap. It seems to be all egos and disrepectin'.

Lupe Fiasco is one of the exceptions in this genre. Seems to have a real social conscience.

But there is no denying Kanye West's ability to produce a great tune. I really like some of his earlier stuff.

I've been following a bit of NBA of late. NBA and this tune seem to go hand in hand.

To commemorate one of the greatest divas of all time, I present my favourite 80's hit.

I have spent many a weekends getting drunk and dancing to this one.

RIP Whitney!

P.S.- some epic fashion choices in that video clip.

Quite excited that Adele won all the Grammy awards this year, instead of rubbish ho-bags like Katy Perry.

At least one female on the planet struck gold from a crap relationship :P

I quite like Katy Perry . E.T is a favourite of mine . So ............please don't take offence 'Jaded' but if possible it'd be preferable if we could keep the thread in an 'Angst' free zone . Not wishing to upset you , it's just that things could get out of hand .

If you go back and have a look at post #1 , then you'll notice that 'Rock' is the theme of the thread . If you're wondering why 'Rock' ? Well , it's just a way of separating a lot of modern music . You probably just stumbled across this thread and really , there should be no rules , especially when it comes to rock but .......................

If the thread encompassed all types of music there could be a bit of angst . And the last thing we need is to have a music thread that turns into one those 'Youtube' fights . I decided to start a 'Rock' thread because I thought there'd be a bit of interest . I think this thread could really grow in the future .

I probably should have called it 'Rock' music videos and have been meaning to ask one of the mods to change it . I originally called it 'Nuggets' music videos as a bit of a hook ( to get people to have a bit of a look ) but it's time for a change . Maybe one of the mods will read this and fix it . Thanks in advance mods .

Adele is fantastic by the way and I hope you keep posting . You must know a lot of good rock yeah ?

Cheers , Nuggets/Macca ( just a couple of my nicknames ! )

I believe the time to tell me that this was about rock, was when I put up Whitney, no?

Also, Katy Perry, really?! Only when drunk!

That might have been a little insensitive on my part 'Jaded' , cheers and keep posting .

Is this an inappropriate time to post a Skrillex & Katy Perry remix?

I trust your judgement JJ .

Cheers

Ha. Funniest thing I've heard in ages!

This is a remix of Skrillex's First of the Year (Equinox) and Katy Perry's ET. I don't mind a bit of Skrillex (I can't get enough of

), the original is pretty good, but I think this is a better version. I don't know if it's an improvement on Katy Perry's song as I can't remember ever hearing it.

So apologies in advance, it's not rock, it's dubstep, it's Skrillex, it's Katy Perry, and to top it all off it's not even a video.

I was lucky enough to see Roger Waters The Wall in concert over the weekend. And wow, what a show it was. I think it really was a golden age of music, the likes of which I don't think we'll ever see again.

In our current iTunes climate we are seeing a the demise of albums, so it is hard to imagine someone producing an album so memorable, let alone a concept double album such as The Wall.

For anyone that went, or is interested, here's an article on how much work went into the concert and some of the technology and attention to detail went into the show.

I know I've posted a Pink Floyd song previously, but I post this as a mark of respect to such a memorable, moving and breathtaking show.

From the original movie The Wall.

If you get to post Katy Perry doing dubstep, I get to post the greatest parody of all times

  • FEATURE: 1925

A hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.

  • PREVIEW: West Coast

Saturday’s election night game in Perth between the West Coast Eagles and Melbourne represents 18th vs 15th which makes it a tough decision as to which party to favour. The Eagles have yet to break the ice under their new coach in Andrew McQualter who is the second understudy in a row to confront Demon Coach Simon Goodwin who was also winless until a fortnight ago. On that basis, many punters might be considering to go with the donkey vote but I’ve been assigned with the task of helping readers to come to a considered opinion on this matter of vital importance across the nation. It was almost a year ago that I wrote a preview here of the Demons’ away game against the Eagles (under the name William from Waalitj because it was Indigenous Round).  I issued a warning that it was a danger game, based on my local knowledge that the home team were no longer easybeats and that they possessed a wunderkind generational player in Harley Reid who was capable of producing stellar performances playing among men a decade and more older than he.  At the time, the Eagles already had two wins off the back of a couple of the young man’s masterclasses and they had recently given the Bombers a scare straight after their Anzac Day blockbuster draw against the then reigning premiers.

  • NON-MFC: Round 08

Round 08 of the 2025 AFL Season kicks off on Thursday with a must-win game for the Bombers to stay in touch with the top eight, while the struggling Roos seek a morale-boosting upset. Friday sees the Saints desperate for a win as well if they are to stay in finals contention and their opponents the Dockers will be eager to crack in to the Top 8 with a win on the road. Saturday kicks off with a pivotal clash for both sides asthe Bulldogs look to solidify their top-eight spot, while Port seeks to shake their pretender tag. Then the Crows will be looking to steady their topsy turvy season against a resurgent Blues looking to make it 4 wins on the trot. On Election Night a Blockbuster will see the ladder-leading Pies take on the Cats, who are keen to bounce back after a narrow loss. On Sunday the Sydney Derby promises fireworks as the Giants aim to cement their top-eight status, while the Swans fight to keep their season alive. The Hawks, celebrating their centenary, will be looking to easily account for the Tigers who are desperate to halt their slide. The Round concludes on Sunday Night with a top end of the table QClash with significant ladder implications; both Queensland teams are in scintillating form. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • PREGAME: West Coast

The Demons hit the road in Round 8, heading to Perth to face the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium. With momentum building, the Dees will be aiming for a third straight victory to keep their season revival on course. Who comes in and who goes out?

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
