New phone and new music player, so I've been listening to all my music as I load it in. I've found myself listening to some albums I haven't heard for years, mostly Scott Weiland stuff.

The second album from Velvet Revolver is a cracker.

Macca where has Kramer Gawn?

Would you believe it's him wearing a "hoodie?" (when he was in his early 20's)

... thought not! ... he'll be back, sometime soon.

Saw Dave Graney and the coral snakes Saturday night - he did the "night of the wolverine" from start to finish.

He was sensational and I am now proudly wearing a chocolate brown one peice jumpsuit.

Hmmm it could be a young Bob Geldolf wearing a hoodie pre Live Aid. I think.

Ha! ... very good Earl.

It's actually Rami Malek who stars in a new drama called ... Mr Robot

There's some iconic avatars attached to certain posters here aren't there? Name changes are hard to get used to as well - like anything else, we just don't like change sometimes ^_^

Not sure if this has been posted already. It's a pretty catchy tune from OK Go, and the film clip is certainly an attention grabber with their supposed one take Rube Goldberg Machine.

A couple from Stone Temple Pilots (from their 2013 album 'High Rise)

Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) replaced Scott Weiland in lead vocals ... to each his own but I reckon it is still a great sound.

I've listened to and read a few of their interviews of late. I think that EP that they released was just a bit of a taste as Chester had commitments with LP (I believe they finished the last of the songs just a few hours before Chester had to fly out for a tour). There was also the messy breakup with Weiland at the time, which was still going through the courts, as such that EP had to be labeled STP "with Chester Bennington". They've been working on some new material and all seem pretty pumped about it, new album due out in the next few months (apparently).

I don't mind the EP, but I'll hold judgment on them until I hear the new album (What am I saying, they'll be awesome). Chester's vocal range is dissimilar to Weiland's and he struggles to really nail the great STP tunes live, but maybe he's the change that the band needs. They all seems to be enjoying each other, the band, and playing music again, so that can't be a bad thing.

STP & the DeLeo brothers have tried to go without Weiland on a few occasions, without much success. I don't mind either album, but I'm biased.

Talk Show (STP with Dave Coutts(Ten Inch Men))

Army of Anyone (DeLeo Brothers with Richard Patrick (Filter))

Bit strange that the two popular songs are Hello and Goodbye.

Hey Macca, I think it is well overtime for you to update us on what you have been listening to lately!

Mostly retro of late Earl ... here's a blast from the past from 'Ayers Rock'.

Can't recall if I saw them live but might have done ... another progressive rock band/jazz fusion.

Have they reformed as Uluru?

Here's a couple from the GTK days ...

A couple more from that era...

Here's a couple from the GTK days ...

you didnt let the tape run too long and get a couple of episodes of Bellbird as well ? or maybe "to market to market"

Unexpected live shows gold.

Saw Steve Poltz - knew very little about him other than he was with Jewel for a while - absolutely sensational - part folk part comedy - but his musicianship was fantastic.

Also saw an Irish guy debut his album "Gallie" - he has been here four years, plays around the traps in Melbourne and is very good.

Lastly - seeing Raised by Eagles next week in a "shed". Looking forward to seeing them but the "shed" phenomenon is interesting. It started in rural Canada where they were starved of any decent live music - so an enterprising farmer figured out that if he could get 100 people into his shed he could get some good talent to play and break even - it was never about money.

There is a "Shed" in Maryknoll and Bones who runs it has had lots of good local acts play - The Stilsons, Jeff Lang, Suzannah Espie to name but a few. ( Maryknoll is a bit much for me though... eek..religion is ok for some but eek)

My squeeze goes nuts over one song called My pal by God.

4 piece band from Melbourne - mid to late 80's - sadly two of the four members died of heroin overdoses.

Great song..

Tape? Cassette recorder?

I was too young to appreciate GTK back then but still watched it occasionally out of curiosity ... Bellbird should have been screened later in the night as a perfect cure for insomniacs.

What about "Take Kerr with Graham Kerr" ... a forerunner to Masterchef?

And "This Week in Britain".

Went very main stream last week and saw fleetwood mac - i have seen them 3 times before and they were very ordinary. I was dragged along and they have improved to a rating of "meh". Just too - well... icky for me...Christine McVie was great but Lindsey Buckinghamwho plays a great guitar is just a first class plonker.

Went last night to see Florence and the Machine - Florence Welch has a set of pipes on her which is just wow - she was extraordinary..

Thursday seeing Mumford and sons

Friday I declare bankruptcy.

You get out & about a lot nutbean ... good on ya mate. Gotta take a bite out of life I say.

The following song was featured on the latest opisode of Fargo (season 2) The show itself is stupendously good and I highly recommend it but the music that accompanies the show is first rate as well.

A little different for this thread but what the hell ...

As far as I am concerned that is NOT Fleetwood Mac... the moment Peter Green walked out of the door was the moment Fleetwood Mac ceased to exist.

Two completely different bands pre and post Green.

So two concerts down this week and my legs are about to give out from jumping around like a lunatic.

Florence and the Machine and Mumford and Sons were both superb.

Very sad news with the passing of Scott Weiland ... a unique talent as lead singer of both Stone Temple Pilots & Velvet Revolver.

2 of their more recognisable songs featuring Scott ...

Stone Temple Pilots - Interstate Love Song

Velvet Revolver - Dirty Little Thing

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
