Imagine if the bulk of the Melbourne playing list chose to play for Melbourne instead of just being drafted. Would this add a new dimension of loyalty and passion to football.

Rich clubs would not be better off because of a strict salary cap, but Obviously the popular clubs would have the greatest amount of supporters and prospective players.

Under this system, we would have already had an afl Tasmanian team and also a Darwin based team. This method of recruiting would keep the game true to it's roots, and lessen the impact and power of afl governance.

Is it worth considering?

More than likely, struggling clubs will continue to struggle, however, there are thousands and thousands of good footballers who would love to get a position on any afl list.
