matty warnock

Indeed - takes his eye off the footy just before the ball is getting to his area and focusses on his opponent, even when Warnock has prime position.

agree on this, it really pizzes me

Push and shove setting the scene? Just like Carroll used to do? Will never forget him roughing up Riewoldt... 80 odd points later...

And what is Melbourne fans fascination with jumper-punching? Dunn's tough cause he acts like this at the start of games? Warnock is a competitor for the same reason?

Trengove is tough because of the way he goes about it when the footy is near, not because of pointless aggro and jumper punching...

Its amazing how many supporters value a jumper punch or "flying the flag" or wanting some sort of tough agressor type. People dont realise that the players who are tough in AFL are the ones who are tough and uncompromising at the contest. Sniping jumper punchers too often reveal a yellow streak in my book.

far too worried about where his opponent is in marking contests, doesn't back himself (as he used to) to judge it better and get to the ball first.

I have been a fan of Warnock over Rivers from early last year. However Matty is struggling for this reason. And I am not sold on Rivers yet at all.

How can you say that? He has played 2 games this season, 1 where we flogged the opposition and starved them for opportunities and 1 where we were flogged and the defence were continually under pressure for 3 quarters. The guy has been published in the best players in both games, yet he is struggling? And not only that, in his games at Casey, how many goals did he let through? Yeah, it's only Casey, but it's still pretty bloody good form, good enough to give him a recall when the opportunity presented itself.

He may not be in your top 22, but give the bloke some bloody credit.

who said anything at all about "jumper punching?"

matty Warnock and Kurt tippett were involved in a bit of push and shove. I thought matty intimidated tippett to the point tippett went into his shell with no influence !

there was no mention of jumper punching in my opening post. by all means beat yor own drum.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
