Don't forget your tips, Strafford.

I refuse to make that mistake again :) Panic obviously set in once I hit the lead. Fitting that CFH is back on top for the last round considering he has led for most of the season.

I would have taken the same as CFH and Pantaloons, but for interests sake I will change one tip. :)

Packers

Broncos

Eagles

Good luck all.

It's out of you and 'cfh' now and fittingly so. pantaloons and myself have the same tips as you 2 leaders (albeit separately) Besides, if the Packers get up, I reckon we'll all get the 3 points as I can't see any of Carolina, Denver or Philly losing (but of course, we say that every week, don't we? :)) Gorgoroth could finish outright 3rd if things fall his way.

I thought of picking 3 left field choices but the lure of the 3 points on offer is just too strong!

Good luck to all and well played, gentlemen!

ps Your blokes are an outside chance for the 2 seed - Bills would have to pull off a major surprise for that to happen - ya just never know! I reckon you'll take care of business against the Ravens - however, they've got a lot to play for and it's sure to be close. Miami can still hold them out but trying to work all that out hurts my brain.

With KC resting so many of their starters, the Chargers are a shoo-in to win that game you'd reckon.

Dolphins really struggling and the Ravens are done by the looks of it. Could be the Bolts for the play-offs. If they somehow lose, the Steelers can grab that last wild-card spot.

Panthers will need to finish well also - currently 21-20 over Atlanta with just over 2 minutes to play. They just got the ball back and should hang on.

Woohoo!!!

Pack Pack Pack!

What a crazy week.

SD currently 3 up in OT, but KC pushing into field goal territory. Lose, and Pittsburgh makes the playoffs (wtf).

Green Bay goes the length of the field on a 15-play drive converting three fourth downs, to score the game-winning touchdown with 30 seconds left, making the playoffs.

Now, with Green Bay winning, if I'm right the winner of SNF will become the third seed. Which means I want my 49ers to lose their currently tied game against Arizona, to be the sixth seed (and hence avoid the Packers. I don't want to go to Lambeau).

Posted

Andy Dalton breaks the Bengals record for touchdown passes in a season, but also throws four interceptions, fortunately Flacco threw three. 11-5 good season if a little erratic, especially at QB.

Whodey.

Posted

San Fran just won the game. Not sure how I feel about that. We're off to Lambeau next week.

A pretty good recent record against the Pack though mate, the Niners probably has as good a shot as anyone at getting out of Lambeau with a win.

Just goes to show the beauty of the NFL, as so many of the games could have gone either way even though on paper you would have expected easy wins for the favs. Now for the playoffs. Can't wait.

Yeah we do play them well, even in Lambeau. But I'd have taken the prospect of the Eagles or Cowboys instead of the Packers given the choice.

Nonetheless, we're in great form, and they struggled to put away a pretty rubbish team in Chicago even with Rodgers and Cobb back. They'll obviously be better for the run, and back at Lambeau they're a different side, but we hopefully will have enough to get by them.

The 49ers have won the last 3 clashes against the Packers (the last encounter was in San Francisco when there was nothing in it at the finish) Interestingly, the Packers have won 8 of their last 9 games at home against the 49ers (but not the last one!) GB vs 49ers results

The Packers will be better for the run. Rodgers and the team are one of those sides where they need to get in sync. Rusty at times today but that wasn't an unexpected thing.

Should be a great match next week (8.40am next Monday) May the better team win!

We're very well represented in the play-offs on this thread ... Eagles, Chiefs, Bengals, 49ers, Packers, Seahawks and Denver all getting through. Bad luck for the Rams, Bears and Vikings posters - there's always next year!

Here's next week's schedule ...

Sunday

8.35am Kansas City at Indianapolis (OneHD & ESPN)

12.10pm New Orleans at Philadelphia (OneHD & ESPN)

Monday

5.05am San Diego at Cincinnati (OneHD & ESPN)

8.40am San Francisco at Green Bay (OneHD & ESPN)

And congratulations are in order for our joint winners in the tipping comp.

Here's the final points tally ...

9 - Strafford, cowboy from hell (joint winners)

7 - pantaloons, Macca

5 - Gorgoroth

1 - DemonDave

0 - 45HG, Norm Smith's Curse, Arrow, bananas

Well done to 'cowboy from hell' and 'Strafford' :)

'cfh' led from the start and then 'Strafford' slowly but surely chased him down. Level going into the last round, both earned 3 points to take the prize - worthy winners of the inaugural competition!

Well played to all the participants ... it's been a bit of fun and rather challenging (to say the least) We might tweak it a bit if we do it all again next year. Open to suggestions.

Had a brief discussion with 'cowboy from hell' about a playoffs comp. Tip the winners of all the games (1 point each) with 3 points for the SuperBowl. Fairly basic and if you're interested, give a shout out. Or just post your tips.

But for now, winners are grinners!

Great work by the Packers. 9 weeks ago Detroit looked like a NFC contender and Rodgers look doubtful to return. I enjoyed the forward fumble recovery TD by Green Bay. Everyone stood still and watched a TD happen. Do the bengals try to replicate David Boon on road trips? Because at home they are a different team. Even with Dalton getting picked off all the time they still win easily. Miami=Choke 7 points in 2 games. At least Dallas are consistent. The KC reserves and SD put on a fun game.

Thanks Macca and congrats to CFH. I would just like to thank my manicurist, as without her my hands would not have been in any condition to type in my tips. I don't need to name her, she knows who she is.

How about those Browns. Dumped another head coach. The factory of sadness continues on it's not so merry way.

Congrats Strafford. A big Thanks to Macca for running this ship. All the game times and channel information are also appreciated by all. I don't check for times and channels anywhere else now so you better not retire from here anytime soon Macca. I would also like to take this time to thank a few people for my joint win. Thanks to all tippers, Adrian Peterson, Viking beer (seriously good drop if you want to try a new beer) You Tube for showing games where Minnesota actually win, Matt Cassel for showing we don't have a QB, Josh Freeman for all your efforts  and lastly the Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jags, Redskins and Bills/Raiders for making it easy to at least get one tip correct.

No one is more surprised than me 'cfh'. I gave us virtually no chance and thought that the Lions and Bears would kick clear. Just another example of ... "Ya just never know". Tough, tough game coming up against the niners but it is at home.

Wild old day with the Steelers getting so close to a playoff berth. Panthers just got over the line - if they lost that, we'd be talking the Saints up in the dome. There's such a fine line in this sport.

Think I'm right in saying that the lowest winning seed on wild-card weekend, gets to play in Seattle the following week. Some reward!

I'm already looking forward to Sunday on the couch. The cricket will be "scores only!"

Good work Strafford I thought I had this comp done and dusted by week 6. You came home strong that's for sure. Do Cleveland know what they are doing? Who would want to coach there? There seems to be some talent but after one year you can't demand miracles. So your lads are at home (9-0) this year. What's your gut feel? The first round bye doesn't seem to sit well with playoff teams the last few years. Is it too early to call the Bengals a smokey?

That first round bye can play tricks on teams but a playoff in Seattle would keep many awake at night. Can your lads defense contain Kapernick this time around? Last year he tore your defense to shreds. The run game is there and Cobb and Rodgers are back so you must have some confidence going into next week.

Home field has gotta help. We played a good game against them in the opening round in San Francisco.

If we were all guns blazing then I'd still be wary. So much is going to depend on how much the team gels together. I really rate the 49ers but Rodgers is capable of anything. So is Kaepernick of course. We need to limit Gore but our new running game will concern them as well. Am I being biased in saying it's the match-up of wild-card weekend?

All 4 games offer a lot though. If the Saints win in Philly, I think they go to Seattle (being the 6 seed) Whoever wins out of Green Bay and San Francisco will know their next opponent before their game actually starts (I think)

KC @ Indi could be a cracker and the Chargers might push Cinci.

But I don't feel lucky to be in the playoffs - just a bit shocked. We're certainly capable and the organisation's mindset is to have an expectation to be in the playoffs. I'm reasonably confident that we'll put up a good show - that's gonna have to do!

They don't muck around over there - although it's usually done on the Monday after the regular season (?) Or is it after the Superbowl?

I think 7 or 8 head coaches got their marching orders last year - nearly all on the same day.

Yep that's right. So if the Packers win, your opponent will depend on whether Philly or New Orleans wins. If Philly wins, you're off to Seattle, but if New Orleans wins, you'll be the higher seed and so you'll be at Carolina instead. Neither of those games is easy, but I'd take Carolina over Seattle.

Gotta beat my 49ers first! (though MFCSS is kicking in, I'm very pessimistic about our chances).

The black day for coaches has begun. Schiano from the bucs, Frazier from the vikes, Shanahan from the skins and Schwartz from the lions are gone. Not as many as last year. Schiano had a good second half of the year with bucs and no talent. their 0-8 start didn't help though.

Well, one team will have to win so one group of Demon fans will be happy (there are other Packer fans here - I'm sure of it!)

It's all pointing to a close one and the winner of this game could go on a bit during the playoffs (especially if Seattle are avoided in week 2) The Eagles/Saints game could go either way but at least we'll know what lies ahead before the game starts.

But of course it's "One game at a time" :)

On current form you have to pick the Eagles over the Saints, right? I mean, the Saints are not a post-season quality side out of New Orleans. Their only road wins this year were against Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Chicago, and they lost 5 out of their last 6 road games. Meanwhile Philly's only lost once since October 27 (though that was a disgraceful loss to Minnesota), and haven't scored less than 24 in the process.

An Eagles win means the winner of our game has to go to Seattle, so I'm definitely behind the Saints on that one!

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
