All about the NFC no doubt about that! Always has been really ?

Belichick might disagree but then again,  he really doesn't talk like a lot does he?  The king of mumbling (Belichick-speak) though.

He may but gee who are the challengers? The Steelers, Colts and Bengals just seem like 'nearly men' teams. Sorry if that's harsh. I would like to see Luck get a full go at it with a half decent line.

You are right but with the way the playoffs work the AFC is exactly half the league.  Works the same in the NBA.

The regular season crossover games doesn't impact either conference either.  Not to any great extent anyway

Yeah that's right, sorry I meant more like who could challenge them in playoffs or even an AFC Championship game.

As far as in division I'm sure the Bills, Jets and Dolphins are improving but it still seems laughable that they could mount a challenge.

My view is that you have to win your division.  So you really only have to get in front of 3 other teams.  Sounds odd but that is the reality

Your divisikn is tough but a lot can change within the space of a year particularly in regards to the QB pisition.

Certainly does. Will be interesting to see what happens in the AFC East when Brady finally goes.

Are you?

Well if it does happen you heard it here first Dappa ... we will know in about 10 years.

Speak to you then!  ha ha

So ... we all just have to win our divisions and that means we generally have to go at least 4 & 2 within the division for starters yeah?

It is like there are 8 leagues within the league ... proof of that is that we rarely chat about the AFC North or the AFC East in terms of the competition within those divisions.

We now have a Jags fan represented here ( @Clintosaurus ) so the AFC South becomes relevant and previously there has been some Broncos support from the AFC West.

We need a Pats fan here to spice things up a bit!

I haven't but thanks for reminding me about it layz

Seen most of the 30 for 30 NFL Doco's and they are all good ... This was the XFL,  Elway to Marino,  Four Falls of Buffalo,  The '85 Bears,  Year of the Scab (not seen) & The Two Bills.

Occasionally they will appear on youtube for a short period of time but ESPN will also show them from time to time.  Here's a 4 minute promo of 'Year of the Scab' which was released late last year.

If there was one AFC fan in here and we had to pick a team for him, Jags would be it. Lots of people picking them as AFC champions.

We're spoilt here in Dland.

Quick change of tack ... is Foles ok?

Grabbed at his upper arm as if it was a bicep knock (corkie?) but they are saying strained shoulder.  Wentz isn't ready for week 1 apparently so you'd be hoping Foles will suit-up.

Love 30 for 30. Elway to Marino is one of the best they’ve done and I really liked This was the XFL. Really enjoyed The Two Bills that was well done. The U and Trojan War are also great if you have even a passing interest in College Football.

Reports are that he didn't go down to the rooms, just went to bench and stayed watching. I think it's the same thing that's been keeping him out of action in recent weeks just flaring up again, but not needing treatment.

I'm hearing conflicting things about Wentz. They're saying he'll play, but that he wont get touches in preseason. On one hand I'm like, yeah, sure... He has to play this year for us to be any chance at all, so any game he plays he won't have had much time. Week 1 is as good as any. On the other hand I don't want him to struggle.

One big positive was Sudfeld. They're high on him at Eagles. It's clear Foles will have a job, either in the next 2 months, or at seasons end, and Sudfeld will get a lot of playing time any time Carson gets hurt.

I still have hope. After all, no one had less reason for hope than Eagles fans after Wentz (Hogan) got hurt. And if they can do it in the richest league in the world, they can do it in the AFL. (Or at least, make finals).

I honestly thought our best hope was round 23 against GWS but today's fabulous win puts it all to bed.  Win next week and we might get real lucky and snag 4th spot.  You never know.

So the AFL finals begin on the same weekend that the NFL season starts so that will be a big weekend for us NFL/Demon fans.  For years the Demons were well out of it early so we won't know ourselves.  Win at least 1 final and the dual fanatical support continues on.

It's crazy. Two of the least successful teams going round, my two. Now look.

Hang on a minute there Dappa ... the Eagles haven't exactly been 'Cleveland-like' in the last 15 years.

9 playoff series' in 11 years under Reid was painful?  You should be so lucky.

It is not always about winning the ultimate prize especially in a 32 team comp.

And you won the whole thing last season so there's the icing on the cake.  And you could win it again this year too. ha ha ?

Pretty bizarre situation. We had that 3 season flurry under Harbaugh including a superbowl but apart from that its been a baron spell since 06.

Looking forward to it!

Yeah but the joke was that the Eagles made a lot of playoffs and did squat, never won a flag in the superbowl era. Demons also played more finals than anyone in the 2000s except for Eagles I believe. So we had a relevant but mediocre period, much like the Eagles.

You're right though. Winning your Division is fun in a different way than winning superbowls. I wish the AFL would bring it in, but the footy media would be unbearable about it.

You missed the great 49ers/Montana era then.  I lived through it but didn't witness it because if the lack of cable.

The joke?  That sort of joke usually comes from uneducated idiots and one should never listen to an idiot.  Put another way it is just opposition fans being opposition fans (idiots)

The Reid era at the Eagles was a somewhat dominant one except for the absence of a SB win.  That is my view and you'll never change my mind.

I got on board during the Steve Young period. Narrowly missed the Montana era, I was pretty young when he left SF.

I've definitely seen some success which is good. But in those years from 06 if you take out the Harbaugh period they've been a dysfunctional tire fire not too dissimilar to the Demons!

I guess also because Philly is a massive football town and they hadn't won a major title since the 1960 NFL championship (think that's the right year). They craved success pretty bad.

Oh mate. We've been copping it for a long time as demons supporters. One of the reasons Philly's fans are known as psychos is cos they were at their wits end with the abuse.

I dunno if you can say dominant unless you're talking about just Divisions. The superbowl vs Division thing was an obsession in all Philly sports and has been since I discovered the sport. You have to remember they've been beating up on the Cowboys for years, and every time they did, the 'boys would remind you they've won 5 and Philly have won none. And their were in recent memory. So dominance is a matter of perspective I think.

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
