Umpires OK

Why were the umpires deemed OK this week? Because they changed their mentality. They used common sense and only picked the most obvious ( except Milnes push in the back - Yes and even I was barracking for the Saints ). They let the game flow properly. Why not for the whole year?

I agree...said the same thing to my mate who is an ump. The game was well umpired (obviously always a couple of dodgey ones), but for the life of me I just cant understand why they dont umpire like that all year.

They were great, I did not notice them until the Milne thing and thought, Damn, had not thought of them all game.

It's a Grand Final-Human nature will always give a little more latitude.

They are also the 3 best Umpires for the year-and they showed why.

It was a fantastic game of Footy. Thats the Level the MFC has to get too.

Imagine Watts doing a "Goddard"!!! Patience Monty!!!! :)

I think the point about the three on GF Day being rated as the best all year has a lot to do with it.

All those little yellow/green/white/etc buggars look the same to me, it's difficult to remember exactly who is crucifying us each week. It's possible that it was never any of the three that justified their selection by doing a tremendous job last Saturday, and hopefully again this Saturday.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
