Coaches Votes v Toiges

Melbourne v Richmond

9 James Frawley (Melb)

8 Lynden Dunn (Melb)

7 Brad Green (Melb)

3 Daniel Jackson (Rich)

2 Aaron Davey (Melb)

1 Tom Scully (Melb)

I wonder what Frawley did wrong to have 1 point subtracted from a possible 10. Riewoldt kick 1 goal too many??

Well...

From that you can deduce:

Coach A

5 Frawley

4 Green

3 Dunn

2 Jackson

1 Scully

Coach B

5 Dunn

4 Frawley

3 Green

2 Davey

1 Jackson

Obviously you can't tell which coach voted which way and both the 2 & 1 votes could swap sides (together).

Agreed. At a guess, I would say Bailey = Coach A ; Hardwick = Coach B. Just a hunch. Only because I think Bailey* may have recognised more how important Scully was in the last quarter and may have been inclined to give Jackson 2 instead of one. I could also see Hardwick recognising Davey's input and influence, yet Bailey may not of seen Davey at the level he is probably used to. As I said, it's at a guess, nothing else. I could well have it the other way around.

I quite like analysing the votes and breaking them down. I recall analysing Malthouse's votes earlier in the year and it was determined that he didn't give any of his players votes, just by breaking the votes down.

* Reading what they've stated post game may also give some indication.

I agree that Bailey wouldve given votes to Scully, but I actually think he'd have given 5 to Dunn.

(remembering that the bottom pair are interchangeable).

Kicking 5 is great, but shutting down Deledio's drive helped us greatly also.

I think Dimma would have awarded 5 votes to Frawley for nullifying his entire forward line (Riewoldt).

Looking at it like that we really should have won by 10 odd goals.

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
