His take on the Aker saga in the Hun is on point.

I have not been a big fan and I am not ashamed to say so. All along I have said "I hope I am wrong".

My biggest complaint was that he should have played longer at Casey however that is now history and

I will admit he has improved the last three weeks and probably now deserves his place in the team.

As to the queation of him or NN I do not know as I rarely see NN and take the opinion of other commentators.

It does appear to me that at least Jack knows what to do were as NN seems to be lost quite often.

You are right when Jack kicks 50 goals in a season I will love him!

Old Dee.. I think a lot of us wat to see him excel and go on to his potential. I generally agree that a pre career in the maggos often leads to a good grounding and foundation upon which to build. But somewhere there comes into it the old adage that youre only as good as your opposition. Keeping Jack down too long ( and yes its a fine line ) might have stymied his growth as a first lie forward. He needs to play on those biger bodied backs and learn the craft of escaping them and surviving the attention all the whiles adding to the teams potency. Its a school of hard knocks if you will but I think now hes in the right place.

AFL is faster and more pressured than VFL ad he needs to get used to it. He will seem a little awkward at first , seem a pace off the mark, seem a few yards and a few measures off centre etc. But he will hone this. Hes now in the 'learn on the job" mode.

So much is about confidence and the sense of belonging to the game at this level, thats only just happening. There is also the issue that once all fit Bailey wants the forward 'group' to get to know each other out there. Only one way to do that!!

Leigh is an afl legend,,,as far as opinions and media matter,,,he's up there...

I think you care what Leigh Matthews says more than Jack Watts does...

He's probably much more concerned with impressing O'Donnell, Gotch, Mahoney, and Bailey. Those last names don't reach out and grab you, unless they literally reach out and grab you...

It's Game Day and the Demons have a chance to notch up their third consecutive win — something they haven’t done since Round 5, 2024. But to do it, they’ll need to exorcise the Demons of last year’s disastrous trip out West. Can the Dees continue their momentum, right the wrongs of that fateful clash, and take another step up the ladder on the road to redemption?

  • FEATURE: 1925

ï»żA hundred years ago today, on 2 May 1925, Melbourne kicked off the new season with a 47 point victory over St Kilda to take top place on the VFL ladder after the opening round of the new season.  Top place was a relatively unknown position for the team then known as the “Fuchsias.” They had finished last in 1923 and rose by only one place in the following year although the final home and away round heralded a promise of things to come when they surprised the eventual premiers Essendon. That victory set the stage for more improvement and it came rapidly. In this series, I will tell the story of how the 1925 season unfolded for the Melbourne Football Club and how it made the VFL finals for the first time in a decade on the way to the ultimate triumph a year later.
