Watts, clean and impressive so far..

Selwood marks and kicks a goal off the ground from inside the goalsquare.. while we stood around and watched..

maybe good that the game is not on tv..

j-mac lining up.. need this bad.

goal. 11 down..

EDIT: hughes goal thanks to a 50..

Capt J-mac the instigator again.. Jamar getting on top too

Edited by DemonDan...

its good... but we shouldnt have to come from behind.....

Hughes handed one here...

Gaddy Lyon makes another gem of a point here. Matty Bate is back on the ground and has a hand in both goals we just kicked.

The Bate nay-sayers starting to look stupid.

Last 10 minutes we're starting to play some footy, god I love McDonald, playing a Captain's game

Bate f**king brilliant handball, injured an all, to benny.. goal

unreal.. we are actually in front

oh, hang on.. daveys been smashed and is hurt

stay tuned..

Edit: Davey broken nose?? he'll be back either way..

Jamar playing beautifully.

sounds like watts is doing ok

I can't make head or tails of this game.

The two sides seem to go in 5-10 minute bursts where they actually make an effort, tackle, and deliver, while the other side just switches off.

Couldn't pick this one. If our defence plays more good footy than our forwards play bad, we'll get up.

Davey got a tough knock. And Kennedy got a big knock on the cods. Not Sylvia was it? :D

Green super tackle in front of goal!

scores tied..

Watts 2 contested marks a noticable highlight, as none of our players are really skilled in this area.

sounds like watts is doing ok

Just.

He'e getting to the ball and doing just enough.... but our forward line is screaming for someone who can lead correctly. Not saying it's his fault, but we are lacking up that end of the ground.

dees are still paying 1.40..

Half time

Scores level - 5.5.35

Better that qtr.

Need to improve next half as we have in most of our 2nd halves this season. backline has settled and J-mac, as a captain has realised what needed to be done and just did it.

Jamar really got on top that qtr.. along with him, bruce, molly, mckensie, grimes and the backline (aided by some shite wce shots at goal) provided us the spark to get back, scoreboard-wise, into the game.

On form this season, theres no reason why we cant really go hard, every contest- and run over the top of the wce..

As long as we come to play this half..

Everything starts and ends in the middle. Jamar is playing well but our mids are struggling to get clean use of the ball so they bomb it in long to nobody.

Good to see Wattsy take two strong marks and his roving effort in the first was beautiful.

I'm sure the commentators are only talking about the pineapple though. Did they all die after he took that screamer?

Like what I've seen from Watts so far. He was always going to be nervous and he's had some nice touches.

I'm expecting us to continue to get on top of them and win by about 4 goals

I may have been wrong with davey..

still off the ground and looking uncomfortable

EDIT: Bate too? Cheers DJL

looking like the 1st qtr again..

c'mon dees..

Jones mark AND smashed in the f**king face..

no mark or free paid..

Seriously, F**K these umpires hey..

and were playing shite on top of it..

ffs.. turnover, wce goal..

wtf.

EDIT: missing daveys skill, movement and poise across half-back..

Bennell free not paid between point and goal posts..

Edited by DemonDan...

Can you tell Watts' starting position? Half forward?

I think Melb has come back down to earth..

Even if we kick five in the last quarter and get up, this is a loss for us.

WC have no right to even be close to us. They're not good at all, we are a lot better, and most of all we're at the G!

Shocking. Timely reminder for us that we're not going to be playing finals this year.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.
