Davey's Hamstring

Not sure if anyone has had time to watch the replay yet or maybe some of you watched the game live on FOX yesterday, but I was interested last night when watching to note that Davey had to come off several times with some sort of hamstring complaint. Not sure exactly what he had done to it or whetehr it was just soreness etc. I note that in todays paper I see no listing of injury and was wondering if anyone knew what he did/has done or if we have nothing to worry about.

To me it seems as though he may have carried something into the game and he got a slight niggle after the game. I am sure he will be in recovery mode this week and will be right to get up for this weekend.

However, I was wondering if anyone had any inside word Re; this niggle. Perhaps it is even something he has carried into teh season proper from the preseason. I recall him having some problems over the summer.

Yes i noticed this too during the game. There was an instance that he got the ball on the wing had all the room in the world to run, but stopped half way and kicked it. He wasn’t confident with it on Saturday.

Depends how he pulls up but my bet is he won’t risk it and won’t play Sunday, but it is Monday.

Might be a good thing him taking a week of to recover... might make selection a little easier.

I think you will find the injury is CRAMP.

It's been a bit worrying the amount of cramps we've seen so early in the year. These boys are playing heart and soul, and their bodies just keep falling to pieces in the 3rd and 4th quarters. With a full bench too.

I think you will find the problem with Davey was he took a heavy koock early in the game, and battled through it, the new team ethic.......he could have just sat down and left us short on the bench......cramp comes from longer game time, you can do all the training you like but doesn't replace the game experience.....quite a few players have shown it on the televised games as well.....it is early in the season

On the other hand we've been running out games well. We've won the fourth quarter in each game so far.

I'm happy with our fitness at the moment.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
