It's pretty clear that the club sees his future as a midfielder, however, I've got no doubt that his best footy this year will be in defence. I'm happy to leave him in defence this year and have him train in the midfield next preseason.

I reckon he will go the way of many others and do his apprenticeship at half back. I think he will make a natural progression into the guts patrolling the centre square.

He will make an excellent midfielder.

Spot on. The younger brigade need to learn every aspect of the game and if it means playing him in the backline to prepare him for the mid-field, then do it.

For those interested in the Grimes-Johnstone comparison

Years left in career:

Grimes 10

Johnstone 1(?)

I know how happy I am.

I'm going to eat humble pie on this one. I was gutted when the trade was announced.

After watching Trav's last 2 games, now I couldn't be happier

If only we had a couple more Trav's to trade this year.

I just really hope we pick up his brother Dylan in the coming draft - taller and said to have all the same attributes.

Jack can play in the middle and Dyl can hold down the backline.

Oh god, please let this happen...

Trading TJ was the smartest on-field decision we have made in 10 years.

That we got Grimes as a result of the trade means it could be the smartest decision we have ever made, period.

If only we'd had the balls to send Robertson, Yze, White and Bruce off 4 years ago

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

It's Game Day and Clarry's 200th game and for anyone who hates Carlton as much as I do this is our Grand Final. Go Dees.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
