change the title of the thread!!!!

you have said Jake Spencer on Long term injury list!

instead of Jake Spencer upgraded

so now it's:

-spencer in for meesen (out for entire season

-valenti in for garland (out for pretty much the whole season)

-blease's spot is still open...

-Rd 11 spot is still open...

I say we upgrade Hughes and Mackenzie

Only leaving Healey and Zomer

they should give hughes a go because it's probaly now or never at his age

Agree whole-heartedly his age and the fact hes been re drafted means this is the year for him to stand up

I thought Hughes had a red hot go on Sunday. If he backs up in the next few weeks maybe the mid season spot is his. I like the idea of holding out and challenging them as a group to win the next spot and not just hand them out because their availiable.

Isn't the Round 11 spot only open to teams who don't have a full quota on the veteran's list (ie. two)?

He dominated parts of the Coburg game too.

He played well in one quarter. <_<

He will have to do alot more than that to get a call up and there would have to be a position deemed vacant for him in the MFC team to fill.

Unless they are going to select him in the MFC side then why would they elevate a player?

Hughes is not close to selection at the moment.

RR did you watch the game on sunday out of interest? if so there must have been two different Hughes out there? I agree no point elevating any player unless they are really pushing for a snr spot.

I get the feeling I'm not on my own here. He was a mile ahead of even jetta on sunday. Strong hands, fast, ran all day, continued to present, thumping right foot, I think we could do a lot worse if this continues. Time will tell

I was not there on Sunday and I have made no comment on his specific performance at the match. You may indeed have seen two Hughes out there on that Sunday. Anyway you agreed with my point so I dont see the need for the reference.

BTW, Hughes is not competing with Jetta for a position.

for the rest of this season I think the reference is valid. Why would have we re-rookied him if the club did not see a potential snr player this year. now that being the case I would see him as a sml-mid sized forward. Currently Wona out, leaving pettard, jetta, robbo and maric. Robbo is robbo so no go there, Pettard is filing in as a tall so strike his name out leaving Jetta and maric. Therefore if hughes has snr asperations he needs to go ahead of both of these guys.

I knew I'd get an answer!

But seriously ignore all stats from sunday, the work he did off the ball and the way he presented and continued to prestent all day was as good/better as most of our snr forwards. A big engine to keep doing it all day and never looked too bad when he came off. This was in a game that was well likened to an u9's scrap where all forwards struggle to have any influance on the game - IMHO being no expert on the matter.

After sunday I am looking more forward to hopefully seeing hughes in the red + blue. If you get a chance pop down and have a look at him, based on sundays game I'm sure you'll like what you see. Nothing better then a forward on a big lead demanding the pill, with a thumping right foot! I see him as a really difficult player to match up on because of his pace and not short either from memory, up around the 190 mark

I think that Hughes could play Petterd's mid-sized forward role. I can understand why Petterd's being used as a defensive forward, but I'd hate to see him play that role for the whole season.

And as you pointed out, there's no logic in re-rookieing Hughes unless the football dept. believed he had potential to be a senior player. If his Casey form continues, he may get elevated sooner rather than later.

    TRAINING: Monday 20th January 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
