Marc Murphy yet to sign with Blues

Word is his nose is out of joint regarding the amount of money Warnock got.

I'd imagine there may be a few at the Blues who feel that way. They were just after the best possible deal for M.M.

Nothing like a rumour.

However it is a valid concern when you go and pay top market value for a young player you set a benchmark by which every other player manager will be pitching in for. The Blues will have to manage this carefully. Or is that Visy?

hardly surprising, given it would've meant quite a large pay cut for himself

Did it actually do that? Do you know that for a fact?

His existing contract would 2 to 3 years old and his salary would be below where his market value is.

Murphy would be one of the marquee players in the Blues line up. I doubt whether they would financially squeeze him. They will squeezes others though.

no, don't know it for a fact, but that is my guess.

Its the only reason i can see for the delay in him signing.

but its a moot point anyway, i could care less about Carlton players' salaries

"i couldn't care less about Carlton players' salaries"

Isn't that a little-known quote from Andrew Demetriou?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
