Seven's Game Day Con

AFL: COUSINS TO ANNOUNCE HIS PREFERRED CLUB

MELBOURNE, Sept 25 AAP - Fallen star Ben Cousins will reveal on grand final morning where he wants to resume his AFL playing career.

Channel Seven have announced the Brownlow Medallist and former West Coast captain will appear on their pre-game show.

Cousins, who is fighting drug addiction, is serving an AFL ban for bringing the game into disrepute and has missed a whole season.

Nominating his club of choice will only be the first step in his comeback, because Cousins also has to convince the league he is ready to play again.

"Cousins will appear on a panel ... and will answer the question the football world has been awaiting for almost 12 months," the Seven network said in a statement.

--- AAP

And yet Cousins appeared on the show and revealed nothing.

Misleading, deceptive and a pathetic con!

Game Day is the worst AFL-related program in the history of the game. I'm surprised Cousins even appeared on such a nothing show.

Cousins is a moron and proved it by going on that rubbish. Who wants to hear what he has to say anyway? Who wants to see an interview with a 3yo geelong supporter?

Ch7 ruined the olympics so they thought - "why stop there? lets [censored] up GF day as well!!!"

Why the hell didn't they just show the under 16 game that you could see in the background?

How do you know? What if Eddie everywhere got wind of his announcement & threatened him to not announce it on 7, but to wait for 9?

He actually never said he was going to nominate for re registering either, it was more if the afl are willing to give it to me I'll re register...........

Agree its a crap show, but what do you expect from 7 they have the worst boundary rider, tim watson who is terrible, ox not much better, bruce who is still living 15 years ago, commetti who I loved on 9 but has fallen badly at 7, Buckley is the only worth commentator/ special comments on the whole network.

I respectfully disagree. Tim Watson and the Ox are terrible, but Dennis Commetti and Bruce McAvaney are like the Batman and Superman partnership - absolutely special. But while their commentary is centimeter-perfect, I'm probably one of the few who think that Nathan Buckley's commentary is light-years inferior to his Channel 10 contemporary Michael Voss.

Agree, Voss is much better, but bucks and commetti are the only decent thing on 7 and cometti is still down on form from his 9 days.

Ricky is still the worst, seriously the guy stutters and fumbles his way through every cross to him. COMPLETE MUPPET!

It’s been a season of grit, growth, and glimpses of brilliance—mixed with a few tough interstate lessons. Now, with finals looming, the Dees head to Kardinia Park for one last tune-up before the real stuff begins.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
