Pretty sure I heard that he is on, 99% sure.

Good time to be on with the debt demolition in full swing :)

let me know what is said mate cant seem to get the stream to work

  • Author

Yeah I find the stream hardly ever works.

He said he would not chase the captaincy but would love it if the club and players thought he was the man for the job and was disappointed when not picked in the earlier leadership group but said he missed most of the pre season and with 13 new players at the club who he did not see a lot of, could understand why he did not get enough votes.

Spoke about last night a little but nothing really that we did not already know,

said the Gary Lyon comment was tongue in cheek,

said whilst he understands people writing us off this friday night said the 8 goal margin he finds a bit insulting and thinks we will not get beaten by that much (could tell that this really irritated him a lot).

Spoke very well, as you'd expect from a seasoned 27 year old veteran!

Some interesting points off hand were:

- he described the feeling of the Brisbane win, when you don't win many games it makes those few wins very satisfying. He felt the emotion through the whole club

- pointed out that the team has been working well together since that point, but because it's a young team it's harder to maintain it for longer periods.

- got asked if he had ambitions to be captain, and he just said that if the opportunity came and that was the role the club wanted him to take then he would do it.

- he recons Newton is a player for the future, to be either a CHF or FF

- said people shouldn't read too much into Gary's comments regarding Collingwood and kicking them while their down

Listened to the 2nd half of the hour. He needs to be captain. MFC, listen to the people..... and happening harf.

The Newton CHF/FF thing is one I agreed with up until I saw him play in the flesh this year. If he could put it together he could play either spot... It's just a question of whether or not he has the stones...

i hate to say it but newton has fluffy fingers and cant mark - re. the wing against north melbourne..... was embarrasing!

green should be captain right now!!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
