5 goals up at half time.
    Gotta be happy with that.

Still, this game would be over if we kicked straight that qr.
One sacrificial goat not enough for finals obviously.
    2 next game.

Happier if Petracca’s DE% was closer to 80 than 50, we would be 2 goals further ahead! For a guy with his talent I find some of his disposals puzzling. Those 2 running shots at goal should be absolute gimmes.

We are in front, showing up the Lions defence. Getting beaten around the stoppages, and groundball in defensive 50 is a huge worry so far. Great to see Bowey step in for last 5 mins at ground level. Cover Cameron, we win.

If that chaos ground ball [censored] continues Cameron will kick 7! Not sure why we are fumbling in those 50/50 forward pinballs by them?

Just saying that if it is not his primary residence whether it be fridge or HWS what is the urgency as he could not travel there to use it.

I see him down at Lorne regularly so assumed his primary residence would be down there with a city residence while working and commentating. I can’t get to my place on the Surf Coast but he can get to a place in Gippsland! Anyway interesting if any questions are asked.

  4. As an aside have I missed something? I only found out today that we had a scratch match last week from my wife, a Hawks supporter when she received a full match rundown from the Hawthorn Club site! Nothing from our club site! Been very poor on Comms this year I think.

I agree he’s a starting 18 for sure. So what to do with Tommo when he comes back? A few murmuring of perhaps moving Rivers into the middle? Will be interesting nonetheless how his career unfolds.

Petty could go forward next year, if Tommo comes back fully fit. If we still have Weideman I would also trial him down back for a year if there is a position vacant.

Fritsch could easily come 3rd in the Coleman which would be an amazing achievement

he is the best medium Fwd in the comp and the most accurate of any in the running

Should get a look in for AA forward posy but the selectors often fill half the forward line with midfielders.

Good work by the boys today. Wasn’t paying the closest attention up until 3 mins left in the second quarter. A friend had a serious accident at work 2 weeks ago and is lucky to be alive so I spent a bit of time having a chat on the phone. Definitely put some things in perspective for me personally.

Wasn’t taking this one too seriously, wanted to win obviously but like everyone else I was hoping to get through with minimal energy expended and no injuries.

I think it shouldn’t be underestimated our performance without Tmac and May. 2 crucial players on our goal to goal line along with Viney as well. We were able to see how the Dees can mix it up a bit up front and this can only help keep opposition guessing come finals.

Honestly that performance from Fritta made the whole Sunday. Didn’t get near it 1st quarter then channeled his own Jeff Farmer to tear it up for the rest of the game. He has really cleaned up the set shot game and is kicking through it beautifully. As is Brown, speaking of which if fit and firing is a massive game changer.

Thought Langdon covered territory well as usual. Might have been a different story without him. Pound for pound Gawn was very good I thought, and Jackson just keeps showing how much of a game changer he is and will likely be.

Plenty of drop offs but not going to spend too much time on it. You have to expect games like this from Melksham. Gus couldn’t get near it. Meh, forget it and move on. I like Sparrow but it sounds like he’s the one to make way for Jack.

4 points, nerves kicking in. Who knows where finals will be. It’s a funny feeling but yeah let’s be happy about where we are and where we could go. Gotta be in it to win it. I don’t really have any good jokes or zingers to add to that. Stay safe everyone.

Great wrap up. Interested in the wingman in this game. Did Langdon actually play on Seedsman, that is on the same wing? Not that wingman should play defensive.  The commentators were speculating for the first 3 quarters and a bit, wondering why the game was played exclusively along the southern wing. So Langdon was in the mix all day and played well but alternatively that was one reason why Gus had stuff all possessions for most of the game, yet we had many posters wondering what use is Gus. If the ball is elsewhere, what can you do, if you follow the game plan of course.

interesting observation from the commentators because when I used to sit in my reserved seat in the Northern Stand, I am sure 90% of the game was played on the opposite wing!

Couple of things can come from this game.

    1. Take back top spot and go into next week with more confidence, with 3 on the trot.

    2. More touch for our forward half connection. I expect Fritsch to get on the end of a few today.

    3. Oliver's game vis a vis the Coaches Votes/Brownlow.

    AND NO INJURIES PLEASE!

  9. Interesting player Joel. We all agree he is an athlete first, footballer second. He seems a likely forward like his dad but he has struggled there. He has been turned into a key back playing for Casey and the odd game in the ones but with injuries has been on the fringe and many see him as a risky defender in the Frost mode. He is 190 cm, watching him at training I know he can run and cover territory, he has good hands at ground level and can take an high mark. Then Alan Richardson last year, talks about Joel having absolute elite endurance ability, second to none in the AFL. So when I read that, my thoughts were why haven’t we tried this guy on the wing or a run with, negating mid role to maximise his athletic skills. We know his disposal isn’t great but neither was Langdon’s when he came to us and he has worked hard to become competent in that area. And haven’t Geelong turned a guy like Blicavs, a former steeplechaser, a pure athlete, into an asset on the wing? Anyway just some thoughts on how to use this guy to maximise his talents now that he has been resigned for another year.

Further to my post just above yours, that is precisely where I think he will be named... filling in for TMac.

He has been playing backline when fit since before last season, why would they pick him as a forward now? if he does play forward this week that would indicate to me that the Weid’s cards are stamped and he is halfway out of the club. I can’t see it myself.
