  1. This is what I mean....

You have shown me a clip of a guy who is constantly fed the ball from congestion and he kicks to team mates. I'm sorry, but anyone playing state footy at that level should be able to do that.

At number 4 in a draft, you would think a player would posses a few more attributes.

'Finding space'... Anyone can find space if you tell them to and if they are playing a particular role.

You can't prove that he can play from watching that video.

Taggart and Tynan's highlights reel are just as good, yet they went 40 + picks later than Morton.

And where is the goose that said Morton had the potential to be the best player in the league?

There is no room for guys like him on our list if he continues to play the way he does.

You need all types to make up a team and I reckon there's a bloke at Carlton who played nearly 400 games who played outside for most of his career, played in premierships and was considered a star at his club who had many similar attributes.

  2. and meanwhile ....

    Goals - Wanderers: T Taylor 5

Still a kid, wonder if anyone would give him another chance ...

I'm all for giving a bloke a second chance if he shows that he's learned and won't repeat his past sins.

I just have a feeling that this kid might have used his second, third and fourth chances and in the current atmosphere around AFL clubs, he's in the same boat as Fevola, Lovett and possibly Tuck - untouchable.

  3. Although I think this could be classified as a racist statement,I do accept that I did put up Serhat a couple of years ago,but I never thought you wouldn't comment on names since your fellow mod,WJ, put up the name of Zyrus Waylen Manson.I would have loved to see you take on the boss in this respect.Maybe you have eaten too many rotten Tasmanian apples. This would be your only excuse.

Take care jayceebee. You have no grounds for making that allegation. You should withdraw it.

  4. What people don't understand is that because GWS failed to recruit players in the middle bracket (22-26 years), they're left with not much. Scully is about all they have. There is no more.

They need to use him as their front man, the problem being that he has no credibility and everything he says is now taken with more than a grain of suspicion. They dearly need someone else to fall their way in the draft.

  5. Simple, it's one player per club but if the club (in this case the Dogs) agrees then there can be more than one. The Doggies prefer the future pick as compensation rather than a current pick in a compromised and corrupted draft.

  6. When was the last time you saw him play?

A strange question to ask about a player who injured his acl in late April and won't be available to play until Round 10 next year.

I don't think we'll get Clark but if we do then Spencer will most certainly become surplus to our requirements and, while I wouldn't call him a "sweetener", he might be the right type for inclusion in the deal somewhere.

  7. I liked the way he came back after the night club incident earlier in the year and knuckled down to play good footy and remain an on field leader.

That said, his indiscretion might have ruled out the possibility of him becoming a club captain.

  8. I just wonder about the wisdom of playing him at Casey next year instead of with the Oakleigh Chargers. I believe he'll be doing school year 12 so there'll be plenty of pressure from that area as well as completing school team commitments and trying to live the normal life of a teenager. It won't be easy.

  9. I'm just going to put in a little plug for Mark Jamar here.

He's actually one of our top tacklers, and the number one tackler amongst ruckmen in the AFL, and usually works hard to negate the opposition ruckman. Given that the last two games have been significantly swung by opposition ruckmen, I think it's a good moment to give him a nod of respect on that and to look forward to having him back soon.

It's also a funny feeling to have as many injuries as we did most of last year, but to know that almost all of them only have one or two weeks left on the mend.

And to be easily on the way to breaking our membership records even when we haven't yet turned our fortunes around on the field.

You can plug the Russian as much as you want. He's on the LTI, he's grown a beard and he's gone into hibernation. He can't play until after Round 7 and by then will need 2 or 3 weeks at least to get match fit in the VFL.

In the meantime, we have a bit of a dilemma if we're going to give Meesen a try - unless we use PJ as a KPP. I don't think Bailey's going to go that way so I would suggest the least experienced ruckman in Spence might have to go back to the VFL for a while. Won't hurt him IMO.

  10. Meesen played the best game I've seen him play by a massive difference. He was genuinely good against two ruckmen with AFL experience. He palmed the ball well, was aggressive in the ruck contests and was very good around the ground.

If one of those two ruckmen with AFL experience was Browne then his experience was vary limited. He was on the ground in his debut last week for only 30% of the time and his team got flogged.
