  1. I found a tape on the floor under the seat of my car of a programme on SEN where Liam Pickering and The Ox interviewed Neale Daniher in the week before last year's Round 1 match v St. Kilda. Suffice to say, all was well then. Very few injuries and looking forward to the start of a new season. New fitness person Bohdan had gotten all the players up to their fittest ever. All rose coloured glasses stuff. Early December is way too early to say "all's well".

  2. Congrats on the appointment Andy.

I am not aware of your coaching qualifications and experience but the fact that you have played in the red and blue seems enough for some.

Given the progressive clean out of NQR MFC players over the past two years who dominated at VFL level but could not do so at AFL level suggests that Sandy will find the going tougher in 2008 than in the recent golden years. Together with the aging of mainstays like Liddell, Gallagher and Sautner its going to be tougher.

    Good luck.

Was Geelong centreline coach in 2005/6.

  3. Oh come on, you can definitely feel the sexual tension in the air ;)

    *runs to take cover*

Just reading about him in the Herald Sun today conjures up memories of the Byronator over the past 12 months. Overweight, unfit, finished the session with a knee injury. He has a lot of work to do in the next month because we can't afford to waste pick 3 in the PSD on someone who's not up to scratch.

  4. who the bloody hell is number 16? do you go to bbc as well?

jake spencer is going to be the next dean cox. he has a boxing background, swiftest right hook for a left-hander this side of the nullabor, knows his way around the streets. dont be surprised if a rugby league side picks him up either, he is a phenomenal 5/8 for his size (received 1-1 coaching from thurston last holidays), more suited to the 3rd row though. also a talented basketball player, so the world is definitely an oyster at his feet.

just like the old saying goes, you might be able to outplay him, but you definitely cant outdrink him. i seen him down 4 beers in a beer-bong once, a magnificent feat, not to mention the fact that it was also raining at the time.

    Yours Truly,

    The Hore

Well, I'd like to personally welcome the Spencer family to Demonland but I have a feeling that with Jake's undoubted beer guzzling talents, the scum out at Collingwood might beat us to him with their first pick in the draft.

  5. And Dean Bailey said today that we are going to develop every single one of those 44 players.

This is an attitude which I think might have been lacking over the last few years, and something Bailey excelled at over in Adelaide.

I think this is an exciting time for the club.

A great point but to be accurate there are only 34 players on the list ATM. We still have to draft 6 seniors and 4 rookies. All the more exciting then, isn't it?

  6. Its more than the list. Its the whole Club. I dont think any Club could with stand Benny's behaviour and interests.

He has almost singlehandedly gutted the WCE with his behaviour. His cancerous influence has split the playing group, undermined junior players and without doubt been a primary catalyst for possibly the best AFL footballer in the past 20 years leaving WCE.

Its an unmitigated disaster. Ben and the Club are at fault for tolerating it. The AFL have been made to look stupid, dishonest and complicit in Benny's activities.

I agree and that's proably why the AFL won't sanction the Eagles over the fiasco - because they're in it deep to Fonzie's ample waistline.

  7. I'm not yet convinced about him being able to see out another season and that Demon forward line looks so old. Neitz, Yze, Robertson, possibly Holland. There's at least one player too many nudging 30 years of age. A new coach with a youth policy isn't going to want to see that.

With Robbo re-signed and Neita's knee playing up late this season, I'm not altogether certain that the plug will not be pulled between now and draft day.

  8. Not all of them are pathetic.

    Poster Dubai wrote -

"We can laugh as much as we like about them but the posters over there are absolutely and 100% about our club's mishandling of the coaching issue. You can keep shooting the messengers and firing cheap shots at them if it makes you feel better but let's get our own house in order first. "

    Precisely.

  9. According to On The Couch Melbourne are $1.30 favourite to beat Carlton on Sunday evening. Incredible when you think we're scratching to put together 22 players for the team and it's 14th v 15th.

    Do the bookies know something?

  10. I know that isn't really funny or at all funny......

But it did make me giggle, and on a very sore night that is appreciated :P !!!

Officially ATM (although we know how good the MFC is with unofficial injuries)

Holland (dislocated shoulder), Bell (head and back), Davey (hamstring)

  11. If there was any doubt about the truth behind this topic it has now been confirmed by the AFL on its own website in the form of this story fittingly entitled Swans set for 'home' game against Demons. We need to get back on our own two feet financially without AFL handouts which always come with a poisoned chalice.

Then there's this comment in Jon Ralph's article in the Sunday Herald Sun which encapsulates what the push to get Sheeds to Melbourne should be all about -

"One of Sheedy's favourite expressions is: 'Don't not.'

Bizarre, but basically it means don't not try, don't not go down swinging, don't not strive for something brilliant that may end in total failure."

Even the banner before the game referred to Sydney's home away from home. We've been sold a crock!

  12. Folks, MFC Members must unite and say no to Sheedy. He has proven over 27 years to be a self-serving, attention seeker and at nearly 60 does not represent the future of football or the MFC.

And please remind me how many premierships has Melbourne won during the same 27 year period?

  13. NIGHT OF THE ZOMBIES by The Oracle

Nathan Jones was the standout on baller and I'm staggered that he was off the ground for long periods in the second half.

Wondered that myself and suggest that it might be discipline or something like that. The week before Lynden Dunn was going all right but was a bit loose on his amn and next thing he's on the bench followed by being dropped this week.

Incidentally, where were all the Demon fans? At the snow where the coodabeens always place them at this time of year when the team's losing?
