Mark Stevens saying there's a rumour of hamstring concerns for Patton.

He's been named so I suspect they'll give him to the morning of the game.

Most rumours sorrounding late outs don't come to fruition so I'm planning on him playing.

We have gone from definitely out to hammy concerns. I'm going to run with yours.

"It was a horrible loss, as horrible as I can remember."  Not hard to see why your words were construed the way they were.

Given the playing conditions, the fact the Roos had a pretty much full strength team on board, their familiarity with the ground and the fact that they were coming off a strong performance the week before, the loss was probably not as surprising as many seem to think.

Fair point Hardtack on the above.

If we miss the finals by percentage I will feel a lot better knowing all of a sudden a lot of people predicted the result against North and felt the need to gloat about their financial success on the game by betting on North.

All I was trying to say in my initial post, is that hopefully they are burning from their performance last week and come out this week and make some kind of statement.

To be honest, excuses are wearing thin with me.

So much hyperbole - you must have a very short memory if that's the worst loss.

It was entirely predictable (and yes I tipped and bet against us).  North have a great record in Hobart, were at full strength, played an older more experienced team, we were missing Jones and Vince, and then Hogan going off hurt us more than Waite going off.  The last quarter was disappointing when we were in a winning position, but we did well to put ourselves in that position.

I think we're a very good chance to win this week against GWS.

How did you feel after the loss? Did i state worst loss? Read properly mate! The feeling after the game by most of us wasn't an enjoyable one to say the least, I certainly felt horrible after it. In the context of the season it was a massive loss.

  4. Were the players gutted as much as we were after the North loss?

Were they filthy with themselves as much as we were made to feel?

It was a horrible loss, as horrible as I can remember.

They have almost let the season slip away, a season where they have worked their backsides off to give themselves and their long suffering fans every conceivable chance of some September action.

All I want this week is a RESPONSE!!!

What I noticed in the last quarter (the only one I watched) was there wasn't any structure when we went forward. Where in other times there would be people moving to the correct position after short kicks there were a lot of statues and and people unsure of themselves. Even Hibberd who has been fantastic was unsure and turned that simple kick over, Hunt as well taking a strange short option with only 1min to go.

We fell apart in the final quarter, mentally, physically and structurally. I have a feeling this will be a game that Goodwin goes through very methodically with the players to work out what went wrong because no one seemed to step up and say follow me.

This sums it up. Did we simply work too hard into the wind in the first and third quarters?

Losing Hogan played a major role in losing structure in the last.

The short kicks were questionable as you mentioned about Hunt with a minute to go.

I find it strange with the season on the line they would perform so poorly in the last.

I am more baffled at the moment than angry.

  6. The last quarter was one of the worst I have seen by us. I'm not going to sit here and stress anymore when they put up a quarter like that, I rarely bag the team but goodness me.

They need to wear this one and I hope it stings cause I'm over feeling crook in the guts.

These cliches " We are not focusing on finals" and " the hoodoo against North doesn't get mentioned", maybe it's time to start talking and actually doing something about it.

    How?

In my opinion, Trengove has better ball handling skills than JKH and a more hardened body.

If it's going to be wet and slippery, everyone will be affected.

Sorry, meant to say if it's going to be wet like predicted, Trengove, in my opinion, can't cover the ground as quickly as JKH and if it's a scrap, a yard or two can make a big difference. JKH is no mug when it comes to hardness either, he's tackling is actually strong.

  8. I enjoyed the second half especially the last quarter where we basically kept them in their back half after their two early goals. Our zone worked perfectly with Lewis setting up as the general at half back.

Two contrasting halves but brilliant to watch in my eyes, these styles can take you a long way to success.

You would think that if we are going to make a strong case for September action we'll need to get a few more early goals on the board than that.

It would be nice to see a first quarter blitz by us at some stage but at the same time it's a sign how far we have come as a team to still be a winning chance in most games we have played this season.

My main concern this week is the wind that usually blows towards the right of screen goals down at Blundstone. I don't want to be 6-7 goals down by quarter time if we are against the wind.

And ANB giving the Port guy an ear full... classic.

Was curious as to why ANB came in over the top and pushed Powell-Pepper off Hunt and after looking at it closer, Powell-Pepper actually drops the forearm to the head of Hunt and keeps it there.

Fair enough. Thought I'd heard people saying they got it from the MFC, but it may have been initially generated by the MCG.

Maybe the club has an estimate also. I usually look on the MCG site where it lists upcoming games with the estimation.

On a side note, the site predicts 53,000 for the Hawks v Swans and 36,000 for Pies v Crows.

Round 13 - and where were Port on the ladder? What has been the percentage of increase in AFL attendance numbers since 2006?

Please understand, this is not a complaint. I will reframe the question though: why did the MFC get its projections wrong for attendance figure?

I thought it was the MCG that provides the estimate for attendance, not the club.
