I would love to see the holding the ball decision against Dunn side-by-side with the tackle by Pedersen in the last quarter.

Without those moments we would have lost by a lot more.

Interesting game today with two category 2 players coming out (Terlich and Matt Jones) with Tapscott, Blease and JKH in the side who I would class as category 1. For me, this balance was much better as in previous weeks the team looked too workmanlike without enough attacking flair.

I wrote the exact same thing in the game day thread.

The umpiring lost us the game for me. A lot of the errors Melbourne players made wouldn't have occurred if the umpires did their job properly.

Why did Jones play on?

Dunn disposed of the ball then, the umpire blew his whistle about 0.01 seconds after he was tackled.

I think that's fair, my issue is that Bail didn't get a free kick for a similar incident.

Same thing happened to Bail at the start of the quarter!

They are just making rules up now.

Blease can run.

He fluffed his kick but followed up and fixed his own mistake.

Bail unlucky to not get a free kick for front on contact in the marking contest.

Agreed, I'm not a big fan but he's been solid today.

I've got no issue with Tapscott and Blease in the team for this game. Whilst by no means dominating at least they bring some polish compared to Matt Jones and Terlich (who show much more endeavour). I want to see some skill and polish, not just endeavour this week.

Really interesting moment in that build-up to the Frawley goal where Bail had the ball in the clear but actually looked to go sideways! Thankfully he kept running and hit Frawley but to even think to take away all of his momentum by going sideways was just dumb.

The umpire must have thought Tapscott was bumped in the stomach.

It's scary how much of a difference one favourable umpiring decision and one mark inside the forward fifty can make.
