Took the morning off (too much leave) attended the early session, started at 8.30am
Only three not with main group
* Bail - doing heaps of running and rehab
* Dawes - walked a couple of laps
* Dean Kent - didn't see him
Group of players not playing tomorrow came out ahead of main group and did a bit of leading and kicking.
Stark, Nicholson, Barry, Taggert, Tynan, Davis (who didn't miss a target), Strauss, Couch and Fitzpatrick.
They then joined the main group, session went for an hour, mainly kicking work once the warm up was completed.
Main group then left, leaving behind those above plus Clark, Trengove and Gawn.
Fitzpatrick and Clark did lead and marking work with Leigh Brown, Clark did not look hampered at all, and spoke to him after the session, said he was feeling great, was "bouncing" so obviously close.
He also unleashed a couple of bombs at goal, one which flew through at post height much to the delight of the main group who were walking off.
They then joined the rest for a bit more running work lasted about another 15 minutes.
The other group had been doing a bit of evasive work in the meantime.
Spoke to Trengove and Gawn said they are very close, Trengove said he was ready to play now, obviously champing at the bit.
Rohan Bail is also close to resuming, seems more settled with the way the Club is handling him.
All in all a good session, I know it doesn't count for much but the morale amongst the group was the highest I have ever seen it.
If you need a good plastic surgeon by the way, speak to Chip Frawley, asked him to show me the eye, he said he was pleased with the work done on it, don't blame him, there is hardly a mark.
Also spoke to Luke Tapscott, complimented him (and the rest of the team) at Renmark for the tackling, he said the work they have been putting in is paying off, he enjoyed crunching one guy during the game.
All in all a good session.
Also got to listen in to a great conversation between Jade Rawlings, Todd Viney, Neil Craig, Jade Rawlings and the "Birdman" Brett Burton who is down with the LIons for the NAB Cup, just "happened to be passing" training.....good natured ribbing all round and some interesting feedback on certain players.

I am just stating the obvious Satriconhome.
These are predictions based last years results.
We were pitiful as our results show.
I have said Jones is an error, not sure what more you want.
This has nothing to do with what we might do in 2013.
I just get annoyed with MFC supporters constantly over rating our players.
When they produce the desired results the general football community will acknowledge that.
Until that ignore this sort of stuff.
There seems to be a misconception on this board that myself and a couple of the other more 'optimistic' posters on this board overrate MFC players
I (we) don't, I go along to games and as long as the players give it everything they have got, that's all I ask for, I know some of the players we have (have had) couldn't cut it, and even though they gave it their best it wasn't good enough, but what is the point going on and on about it, what does it achieve? apart from making the person miserable.....as I have stated before I wear nr 39 on my guernsey, because of Nev Jetta, he has given it everyting but his body keeps letting him down, a lot of posters on here were down on him, but he hasn't turned up his toes, he has rehabbed and rehabbed and now he is finally showing what he can do
Sometime (hopefully in the near future) we have will a team that when it gives it all, it will be good enough to win the Holy Grail
-
Correct stuie my error.
Still think we need to get a grip where the MFC is concerned.
While we might disagree with a couple of players we were pitiful in 2012 and the bulk of these predictions show that.
Gee Old Dee, it's a beautiful sunny day, I am actually achieving things in work today, our young team had a battling win at the weekend, this article is selective and does not fully explain how the results were reached, all the names on the list for MFC did not play the full season, what the hell happened to one N Jones, there is a game on Saturday in downtown Casey where you can sit and be severely sunburnt.....what is there to be miserable about.....try not to encourage the hair shirt wearers...believe the Membership telethon last night with the players was resounding success.......
-
It's not peoples opinions, it's based on Champion Data's analysis (apparently).
It is not apparently IT IS, but I think they have also been selective in what they printed.
-
Club has been tweeting that they are going to record whole game and put on website, somebody asked about playing "live" they said not possible, probably something to do with broadcast rights etc
-
You are being rather simplistic blaming the players solely for the predicament that the Club found itself in just before Jim Stynes took over, the Club had some great players that are revered on this board during the period the Club was allowed to stagnateNo-one said it was for the faint of heart, but it's the same for all 18 clubs. Our club is regularly bottom 4 for a reason. One day it may dawn on you that we've had far too many "not quite rights".
Maybe not.
-
You're not a pleb, you're merely a football simpleton. But you love the game and the club, so good luck to you.
Just because I know we've been absolutely pathetic with rank mediocre players doesn't mean that I don't support the club, or live in hope we'll improve. I go to training because I'm interested and emotionally invested in the club, but that doesn't mean that I can't call it as I see it. And I'll call it warts and all. Of course I won't always be right. In fact, I'm often wrong. And I'm usually wrong on the positive side. Plenty of players have been even worse than I thought. You know, "I knew they were bad, but not this bad". Many of the players you rate, or admire have been utterly ill-equipped to handle themselves in a tough AFL competition. It's just the way it is.
Thankfully the club isn't consigned to being crap forever. But I doubt you'll recognise the difference. You live in a football bubble. At least you're always able to think well of the players that represent the club. I don't share your giddy emotional state.
"Ben-Hur witnesses the
crucifixion of Jesus.
and tells Esther that he heard
Jesus talk of forgiveness
while on the cross, and says
"I felt His voice take the
sword out of my hand."
I like my giddy state, although I think it's age related, along with the hot flushes and the urge to shoplift.
I also call it as I see it, just not as bluntly, but I have never played the game at AFL level so would have no idea what it is like to make a decision at high speed with a 90Kg monster hanging all over me...if I did I would probably make mistakes now and again, but use my tenacity, guts, fitness, courage etc to try and make up for any I did make
-
I don't pump up the team, I even had a good natured go at Luna Park the day after with Jordie, he agreed actually it was a terrible decision the turn over kick, I just find it rather destructive if you continually focus on the negative...it is just footy after all......I prefer to focus on the positive...I come onto the forum to maybe give the other side.....and to annoy BH...there I've said itNo no, I'll just show you what you clearly missed in the game that day.
Satyriconhome, the exact same could be said toward your type who continuously pump up anyone or anything to do with the MFC. I could ask you what you're doing on a forum like this in which people are bound to disagree with you. I'm happy for you to disagree with what I say, but I'm also willing to show you some things that I believe you missed in that game.
I love the club. There, I said it.
-
Sorry didn't realise there were supporters who just went along to pick out the mistakes and analyse, as I have said before, and this includes BH, if you think the team and the players that are in it are crap why support? latent masochism, the constant carping is tiresome......sorry BH one of the plebs standing up to you again, know you don't like itI would be more than happy to re-watch the North game and show you how many silly mistakes Jordie made. It seems you enjoy watching stats, I enjoy watching the game.
-
This is one of the perpetuating myths on this board (a bit like the Joel Mac, 73% eff last weekend, silence now)...... yes I agree that Jordie's kicking is not the best in the world, but I could only see one poor kick at Etihad at the start of the NAB cup, a lot of the time his disposals are under extreme heat, I can live with the mistakes for everything else he brings to the team.
He actually reminds me more of Mitch Robinson, every Carlton player and supporter loves him in the team for what he brings but some of his clangers are outrageous, but he is like Jordie if he stuffs up he is straight after the ball to try and fix it up

Dammit, I was about to delete that post....
I'm still working on the coloring in.
...the paradiddle and splash are spot on though...

The biggest surprise in our line-up at Renmark was ommitting our entire leadership team. I know that we need to get games into many of our younger players but we also need to hone our on-field leadership. IMO to not have some representation on the ground from the leadership group was a mistake as it would have been-character-building for whoever we appointed and also good for the morale of the rest of the team to have their leaders out there!
It's also about not having them there as well, Neeld made a point in his post match of saying the team was able to readjust, and they seem to have done it themselves, so good leadership shown by non leadership group players, the Leadership group in AFL is about setting an example both on and off the field, in training etc...it would also show Neeld, if he wanted a change up who the next candidates might be....personally I don't mind the two Jacks as Captains, but the rest of the Leadership group should be an evolving beast

Been on one of my self imposed breaks, some observations myself
Joel Mac - one poor kick and everybody assumes he can't kick, as somebody else says 73.7 efficiency
Jetta - been saying for four years just needs an injury free run, footy smarts are in the family genes
Fitzpatrick - was playing a role, notice how Sellar was most of the time one on one, that was because Fitzy was taking his other defender away, you don't have to touch the ball to have an impact but also his smother to create the runaway goal for Sellar was outstanding
Syliva - is getting game time under his belt, I am sure the Footy Dept don't want him injured again, running at about 80% probably under instructions
Spencer - competed in the ruck, that is all that is needed, stuck to the task and a couple of good tapdowns that led to goals
Magner - was not fourth of fifth midfielder and showed what he can do
The whole defence which was a complete change from the supposedly best 22 looks composed most of the time in the conditions
I was pleased with what we saw

I would like to point out that I have been saying this for a year or two, all Nev has ever needed is a clear run without injury, fringe no moreNev Jetta for mine. Mentioned a fair bit today and I reckon after an injury free pre season he has the tools to be a find for us this year in the clint bartram role.
-
I have seen many ridiculous posts and threads on this board, but this one has to nearly take the title of the worst ever, it is about a guy who started as a rookie and has worked his way into the Leadership group, agree his kicking isn't the greatest in the world, but the Footy Dept and coaches must see something, hence his Coaches award for last couple of years, at least some of the posts in his defence point out what he brings to the team...I wondered who was going to take Morton's and Watts' place on the hate list but McKenzie beggars belief

Kyle Cheney Kyle Cheney....hmmmm...don't remember him being at Family Day and haven't seen him at training,,,oh that's right he left over 2years ago...sigh

What do you mean 'prove' he's played nearly 30 games, agreed he has not set the world on fire but neither has Bastinace and Fyfe has been a bit all over the place, maybe all three will finally crack it this year as they have also all had injury issuesWhy do you love him?
He is yet to prove himself in my opinion
(Nice to see Clint also managed to squeeze Sylvia into a Tapscott thread, try just making a doll and stick pins into it Clint)
-
BH, answer you first, what purpose does it serve to continually look back (in anger), I go to quite a few junior games actually, but hey don't let facts get in the way of your diatribe, sorry you must really get quite peeved dealing with people who are so obviously inferior to you
Fifty-5
I said a core of ten, I am not in the Footy Dept of MFC so perhaps I am wrong, putting my opinion from what I have gleaned from attending training and talking to the players
You will also find that a team that wins the Premiership has had a very good year injury wise from the pre season onwards and there is nothing like winning to make you perform to your optimum each week
I am hoping we can establish a consistent 'best' 22 but not sure if we are at that point at the moment hence my post
Interesting that a post that is not the same as everybody else, fancy that
-
You will see a lot of retrospective musing/looking back over the shoulder/playing whatif on this board, personally I think everything has changed, Neeld will have a core of 10 or so and the rest will be as required, ie a big forward line against a team with not many tall defenders, nippy midfield against a perceived slow one, etc etcInteresting, I haven't bothered ever looking back at that draft as I hate retrospective draft calls, but I distinctly remember at the time Atley being touted to go top 10, wonder why he slipped.
-
Now there you go Billy, after attending heaps of training and other functions, and some strange military training, I can recognise the players by number, body shape, haircut and actual running and kicking styleI need the sound at the moment so I know who certain players are!
-
Billy, I am actually impressed by the positivity you have been expressing in your posts the last day or two, perhaps we can see if we can get Old Dee on the same page.
Personally can't see Mitch being in the VFL, thought maybe sub for a couple of games

Yeah, but at least we can hear what's happening, which is better than just following a bunch of tweets.
I follow it on twitter because I just get the information, ie goals kicked etc, rather than inane/biased commentary, if I watch a game on TV actually watch it without the sound, same reason
-
@mellbournefc will be tweeting from the game, I asked
-
Billy, I may just leave it now, you seem to be intent on denigrating me because I don't agree with you, obviously you stand by your opinion of CC, you are entitled to that, just sad you besmirched a great man.
It is my opinion that a lot of your posts are negative, again I am allowed to think that, it is not lying, it is my opinion
For your information I have come out from behind my keyboard quite a few times, some posters on this board know exactly who I am

But they are puttng in the extra work, as I noted in my report, neither Trengove or Clark looked 'stuffed' after the session and it was hot, yet the 'young' body Stark did...just saying
