  1. 28 pages and counting, I thought we would have learnt on this board, that nothing is a fact until it is proven

Why was nobody arrested yesterday, why was noboby named simple answer, there is no concrete proof, there are suspicions and probably uncorroborated statements, but not enough to pursue

The Police are now going to use all their resources to try and prove

ASADA are hoping that if they shake the tree hard enough something will fall out, similar to the Lance Armstrong situation

I will wring my hands and be disgusted if and when a present day Melbourne player or official is suspended, banned, arrested for using/administering performance enhancing drugs

The rest is what we have all become used to, the media creating the story

I can't wait for the footy to start and then we can talk about the footy

  2. I'm interested to know why you wanted to know the answer to a question like that, and why you thought that was an appropriate forum to ask it?

Given that our coach was labelled a racist last year, that we delisted Jamie Bennell who is still recovering from a knee reconstruction, but still drafted/traded in Dom Barry, and we still have Flash and Jetta on our list, I just would've thought it would be a question best asked in a more private situation, especially given that the particular subject has been a very sensitive one in recent times, of which have cost people their jobs for speaking openly about their views.

I'm not knocking you for asking it, and from all reports, NC answered it very well (I'd be interested to know his view), just don't see how it would've fitted in with the purpose of an AGM.

Just a quick answer, it has been in the news, it was footy related, and as a Member I am entitled to ask an employee of my Club whatever I like.....NC answered it like it should have answered....given his personal view which is very similar to my own.....as I said last night in the preface to my question......I wear 39 proudly on my jumper..........it is an issue that needs to be discussed...and if you are going to ask anybody NC was the perfect person, footy.sport/life experience.........if we sweep it under the carpet or speak in hushed tones it will always be there.........is there an issue?....is it a media beat up again!....is there anything we as supporters can do/understand/help/etc...NC's view we need indigenous players in the game....but everybody including the player needs to be on the same page and making the same effort/sacrifices etc...but with the Club learning all the time to make it as seamless as possible...think that is paraphrased as well as I can

  3. How'd I go Satyriconhome? Were my expectations met or exceeded?

So Russell Howcroft you actually contribute to this board......but seriously......

...any supporter who regularly either reads or contributes to this board could do the same....

..I went along to listen about the footy, don't have a problem with the admin side......and asked a question of Neil Craig because I value his insight on anything footy related.....and as WJ has previously stated was given a brilliant answer

  4. Neeld is like Malthouse, dependent on the circumstances

AGM - does not want to create a headline, wants to look professional and completely in control, with a bit of humour

DEETV (with Robbo) - trying to show his 'human' side

TV internews - does not suffer fools

Chatting to him at Training/Family Day/Function - a really nice guy, if you ask a question you get an answer

The most important is the Coach's Box and this year he will show how good he is

  5. I actually thought the question on the future of Indigenous players was brilliantly asked as well, but I am biased, and agree answered brilliantly, told Craig that after meeting ended

May get a poll started on here about the benefits of playing with facial hair, Rangey can u see to that please

I think they want the song to ring out when we win, doing everytime we get together will devalue it....we are all finally on the same page....no rallying cry needed

WJ make sure u take notes next time...that report is very scant on detail haha (twitter touch)

  6. some addendum.

Terlich seemed none worse for wear.

Missed the Rodan incident.. then I again I probably missed much !! lol ( need better glasses )

Couch seemed quite good,, might be one trying to break in.

I ventured this commentary to a fellow watcher, if only Sylvia would play to his obvious abilities. Then again he could be the perfect sub, comes on for a 20 min cameo  He actually looks fit, didnt seem restricted in any manner, so who knows what we will get this year.

I liked Byrnes. not sure hell play the fwd possie even though he trained there. Could be interesting if Flash pops up Shanon might get a gig in the middle, watch this space I guess. Also be interesting to hear reports on the intra ( coming up )

Dunne will be pushing to cement a position me thinks.. who budges though . Speaking of who would make way, Im not sure where Fitzy fits in though he looks in great shape. Potted some nioc ones on his own late in the piece, seemed to be a member of Trenners forlorn club though !!

Just a note on Fitzy, Clark 'may' be back for Rd 1, if Neeld wants another tall, enter Fitzy, he'll get runs in the NAB Cup for sure, by the way he has had Chronic Fatigue and has diabetes assume the regime he has to adhere to is pretty serious, but if you speak to him, away from the footy field and training track he is one 'different' laidback individual, switches off as soon as he can, so may look disinterested or forlorn

  7. "But he's not 110kg, and he doesn't look angry all the time, and he hasn't beaten Chuck Norris in a fight".

If you don't think that the above statement is disingenuous then you don't understand its meaning.

I would have gone for humourous rather than disingenuous......

    Humourous -

is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement.

    Disingenuous -

    1. Not noble; unbecoming true honor or dignity; mean; unworthy; fake or deceptive.

Edit trying to amend the pasting but would be disingenuous of me to claim that I am actually au fait with the process

  8. Why be disingenuous ? The issues in Watts' game is clear, which is why he was dropped to Casey in his 4th year and why he's been shunted to a half-back flank even though he was considered the best key forward prospect in the country when he was drafted. It's attitudes like yours and C&B, who considers him a borderline star, that makes me continue to post about him.

I get that you and others are all starry eyed about him, but some supporters don't wear pink goggles.

Hey BH it is not attitudes but opinions, to be disingenuous we would not have the opinion of JW that we have and were just posting to stir.....unless your definition of disingenuous is "not agree with BH, so is definitely wrong"

  9. I agree with you WJ there will be the normal positive stuff and as no one is up for election it will be a fairly tame affair ( as normal )

However it will depend on the questions asked by members.

Leaving aside the tanking subject there is the potental for sum hard questions on

    - Impact on Financial postion in 2013 from the disasters on and off the field in 2012

    - Previous recruiting

    - Casey alignment strategy

    - China Project ( what happened to it?)

    - Darwin strategy

    - Sponsor gaps

If ever there was a time for members to ask hard questions it is now but I suspect the normal will apply.

I am looking forward to tonight.

We made a profit this year, what impact?

    Why?

Casey is the future, the supporter base needs to keep expanding

China was an AFL initiative, we bought into it, they come up with a new one each year, believe this year is New Zealand

Darwin was answered in another post

    What gaps?

Old Dee are you going to be there, look forward to your questions

  10. I'd like to see Blease play further up the ground, perhaps on the wing or as a half forward. I don't know much about Kent; I live out of the country so haven't seen him training. Davey and Byrnes won't be around when we're (hopefully) challenging. Magner is not a forward pocket; he played there a couple of times last year, with, IMO, no success. Jetta is better utilized as a small defender.

If he can get through this season, I would be more than happy to see the Dees take a punt at LeCras. I'd be surprised if he left West Coast, just as I'd be surprised in Betts left Carlton, but I'd be happy to have either in red and blue. I didn't realize Milne's age.

Anyway...just trying to generate some discussion; I'm getting tired of visiting the "Tanking" thread.

Magner had his first pre season last year and a shortened one, he has increased his endurance and looks faster, would not surprise me to see Neeld using him up forward

As for Le Cras it seems strangely quiet, maybe one of the Dees in the west can post what he is up to, been nearly a year since he did his knee, doesn't get a namecheck on any of the latest stories on their website....strange

Agree with Blease but that will be in a year or two, needs at least another pre season

Jetta is very versatile, will show this year, can play there if need be

Kent by the way from what I have seen is as fast as Blease, just starting out though, but has a fair rig on him as well, under the radar at the moment

Barry might get a go up there as well

  11. There's a few names there I'd love to see us make a play for. There's a few A-grade small forwards there (LeCras, Betts, Milne), which a position we need to fill.

Why? what you don't like Blease, Kent, Davey, Byrnes, Magner..Jetta in a pinch

Milne is 33 this year isn't he, Le Cras has had a very serious injury, if Betts leaves Carlton I would be very surprised

  12. Clint, think you need to alter the angle of your cap, it seems to be obscuring your vision too much, judging by your assessment of some of the players at training.....just a hint

Jose, I have now seen 'live' and in pictures at least six different white and blue teams, there is some thought given to it obviously, but I wouldn't read too much into it......most of us have 'locks' in certain positions and I am sure the Footy Dept does as well, but if they have a niggle or are not in form or not performing on the track from what i have seen of Neeld they won't play

  13. Yep he pulled up a bit sore at Friday's session, nothing serious apparently & will be back in full training next week.

And if you ask the player or coach of course you will never get the truth, I asked Dawes, Grimes, Jones et al when they were in the rehab group and they were all just a bit 'sore'.....professionalism again

  14. What's going on with Tapscott? I remember at the start of pre-season he was attached to Jones, now he seems to have cemented a spot in the rehab group.

Can anyone shed some light on his injury?

I spoke about this after chatting with Fitzy last week, they have to report the slightest niggle and it is checked out and they are put in the rehab group to work through whatever the issue is, if at all, so Tappy must have a niggle somewhere, Grimes spent the first four or five weeks in the rehab group, he is fine now

Terlich has obviously been diagnosed with concussion so he is allowed to do very little.

Everything is much more professional now, there won't be players 'hiding' injuries, or being given a game if not fully fit

  15. With Col Sylvia, if he gets throught the last couple of weeks of pre season and the NAB Cup unscathed it will probably be the first time ever since his very first season, let's not try and jinx him, spoke to him at trainging the other week, he wants to really show people.

Supporters need to realise that if you don't get a full preseason under your belt, you are playing catchup...so don't go expecting great things from Clark first up

  16. I know what you mean, but you don't need to open a thread you don't like. I did a quick scan and not including pinned threads there are 27 active threads on the main page of which I've opened 12. One of the threads has 4,000 posts and I've not once clicked onto it, as I have zero interest in the topic.

I couldn't get to training so I was looking for a report, I skipped the majority of the posts after reading the first one on Gysberts, I usually read anything WJ has to say, hence my post

  17. Well I would be the happiest bloke around if Davey can get it back together. In fact it would be a comeback of almost Lazarus proportions because his form AND attitude over the past two have stunk. Yes he has had some minor injuries but he has thrown in the towel on too many occasions mid-game.

If he does I will take my hat off to him as it appears he has upped his workrate bigtime at training

I take it you are using your medical degree and years of experience to say he has had minor injuries, only or do you know for a fact they were

  18. This is a thread about training and no doubt we're all interested in how our blokes went but unfortunately, there's a dearth of information about yesterday's session.

In the circumstances, I think it is reasonable to discuss one of our recent players who reputedly was a poor performer on the track and who, from one report, seems to have undergone an amazing transformation in his attitude to his training. I thielf imposnk it's fair to ask whether this was due to some deficiency in the way we approached the player while he was with us, whether he's had an epiphany since leaving us, whether Brad Scott has some magic formula or whether the story's nothing more than spin?

WJ never thought I would see the day when I disagree with you, but this is one of the problems about this board now and agan, 2 posters hijacking the topic to discuss a player who is not even with us, I don't care if he wins the Brownllow this season, the only problem with that is I will have to have one of my self imposed exiles as the board fills with vitriol blaming everybody from the CEO to the boot studder for trading him.

Must we continually revisit the past...new season...whole new bal game....

As I said in nnother post

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!....there I feel better now
