  1. Yes well pretty close though. Pounamu was certainly a good pick, and you said it would be a blanket finish also. Ok so it goes on and on..no rest for us.......well id be interested to hear your thoughts on the 1400 WFA next week.
  2. FF did pay very well. I dont think many people would have had Material Man, i did, then i took it out! Also typical. I had Alchemar Star for third somehow and the Jewel of course. But yes bet small to win big, no real loss there. Onwards and upwards, might go check my small investments in Crypto currency for the 3rd time today.....was a good week for them actually.
  3. Pounamu! Well picked Macca. I didnt see the vision, but it sounded like Black Heart Bart copped a big check and that was his race.....I think a lot of these are too tired now. Like you said its a long way to go to Perth.
  4. Yeah easy from the grandstand i guess, and split second decisions.....but hey we know that, we follow the Dees! A jockey also said after the last race, it was impossible to make up ground. The Quaddie paid 123k. Definitely a roughies day.
  5. Jockey went the wrong way after a good start i thought. reckon he should have cut back inside, but ended up in a stash on the outside. Also wasnt suited in the ground, but he wasnt that far off in the end all things considered....
  6. Just had a look again at the field. Dan is holding at 7.50 and 2.50. They still rate it a soft 7 on the internet. A friend of mine has a rule of the thumb he goes by and ive watched him win a lot over the years on strange picks. He reckons a horse should have 3 runs in and placed at their last start (so must have placed on its 3rd run).....i must admit ive used that formula myself and have often found it works. Some fields of course have multiple runners on their 3rd run with a place at the last start and some fields only have one. Today Dan Zeph goes around the only horse in the field to have had 3 runs and was placed at his last start.....
  7. Ok interesting, ill have to sit down and have a look at that, 21% is pretty good too, as group races tend to have some money in the pools. I usually pick a standout to win, although sometimes i put it second as many picks just get beaten. If you can pick the winner, its gives you a wider range (more horses) in the other legs.....going on that theory, i hope to fluke the other 3. Maybe ill try both systems tomorrow and see how we do. Thanks for that Macca, most interesting.
  8. Ok, its game on for the Zeph! Thats great txt, been a long time since ive seen one of those. Theres a bit of wind around so the track might dry out. Interesting about riding the horse cold. Maybe thats the key! Who knows....thanks D77. Ill be watching with great interest. Lets hope theres no rain overnight.
  9. Ok so its pretty interesting field with some excellent odds to be had. I notice WPyke takes the ride on Perfect Jewel 6/1 is juicy odds. You have to chuck Tom Melbourne in as a roving banker cuse you know hes gonna run 2nd. Out of interest, how do you pick your FFs Macca. Do you prefer a standout horse if you find one. It always seems to expensive to box them all up type thing and thus i usually avoid.....but i might have a bit of a go this time.
  10. Yeah hes a nice looking beast, needs to go round in Dees colors tho.....see what you can do and maybe we can get him on the Banner!! You didnt tell me how he goes in the soft ground tho??
  11. Its a good point Diamond Jim, i also feel i know him. Perhaps one day they could run him in Demon colors!
  12. Well he cant take a trick re the barrier draws but hes due for a break soon. At least in longer races sometimes its not so much of a handicap.....looks like a soft track, how does he go in that sort of ground? I like Burning Front and watch out for that Waterhouse Bott lightwieght missile at the bottom there, one of only 3 runners they have sent down. Maybe your quinella with those two. Good luck D77 Ill be watching on! I like De Little Engine in the Cup race, was flying home last start although he doesnt seem to win much these days. Quinella with Grey Lion. Have you come up with the form for The Kingston Town yet Macca? Whos W Pyke on this time!??
  13. Yeah, as i always say, some weeks you make a deposit and other weeks its a withdrawal....either way its a bank. Last saturday was definitely a deposit. I shall have a look at the form from the Railway then. Thanks. Any news on Dan Zepher D77??
  14. Yes Macca....looks like everyone else copied our tactics...........that will teach us to post on Demonland!!! Pretty average day in the end. I did make the call on Fuhryk tho....and he completely missed the start, if not he was the winner i reckon......but as some famous poster said on here recently....thats racing!
  15. Yes well Macca, there you have it. A bit hard to overlook the dominant Pike in a race like this. If you think he can get beaten, then perhaps quinella him with something else. Fuhryk is an interesting runner. This horse had a few problems and the trainers said they couldn't get him right......then they said theyd fixed the problem and well....it came out and smashed them at Caulfield over 1100. But then it went to Flemington in a Grp 3 and failed. But Oliver is on board here and maybe it might come good again. Rock Magic can go ok i think, dont know much about the rest of the field, so ill be sticking with W Pike and also for the rest of the day. How did you go in your form searches? Actually, looking through Pykes rides, the first 3 runners are all under 2/1 for the win, so wont pay anything for the place.....next ride is 3.30 but is the horses 2nd start, the next one is a 14/1 donkey and State Soliciter seems his best odds for a place so....it wont quite be the ATM of last weekend im afraid....still ill take something into something im sure.
  16. Bit off topic buuuutttt..........why are The Bummers holding a members forum with the players and coaches and ex coaches etc etc....700+ members.....big Pow Wow...on Channel 9 news...(as if thats news)......I hate it when they get on the TV ranting on and on, this time about draft picks.......did they do that well? ......and at this time of year??....so why dont we do stuff like this?!!!! rant over..
  17. Oh dear! Yes i think i remember Shakespearean Lass?......you would have done ok on the all up tho? 85 /1 is ok! But yes i know the feeling. Myself and a mate were putting on FFs on an Emirates Stakes day a few years back. I was adamant i had the winner at 17/1. Then i also wanted to put this horse in for 4th who had only ever missed a place once in about 10 starts. My mate said we didnt have enough money left to put it in. Of course my horse won which we had 1 out and the horse we left out ran 4th.......we had 80% and it paid 185,000. So yeah i know the feeling.........Thats Racing, but sometimes common sense needs to prevail!!
  18. I was just having a look at the Moonga Stakes at Caulfield back in March won by Voodoo Lad ( a fav of mine). Dan Zephyr had a pretty good run, looks like the weights might have beaten him at the end there, but it was up there most of the way. He will win some races. https://www.racing.com/videos/2016-10-15/voodoo-lads-moonga-stakes Voodoo Lad goes around in the Winterbottom Stakes at Ascot on Saturday. 26/1 Opps, no he doesnt, didnt make the final field......must have been why he was 26/1!
  19. Yes a mate of mine in Sydney txted the result, but i didnt know anything else.......thanks for the vid! What a crap track!!! Have they got something against grass over there....haha......what bizzare horse names as well. Go Hugh!
  20. Yes well Macca, thats the strategy indeed. Because you have situations like yesterday where one leg got shot because the horse got injured at the barrier, which was my second leg. No subs in Parlays (although there damn well should be!) Several shorter legs helps with that one or two bad legs, such as Silverstream yesterday. There is that bet stratergy however where you can miss a leg by pushing another button, and it allows the carry over, despite one leg missing, although i tried it once and it didnt seem to pay very much at all and it cost double to put on i think?? Ill have to investigate again. But he certainly put on a clinic yesterday and does it regularly over there as he gets a lot of good rides. Well im certainly keen to have another go, im a fair way in front now. Still dont want to give it back too quick. Had several reds in Mr Pykes honor last night. Oow my head.
  21. As long as none of them are "A Grade" Basketballers or top of their class at athletics, then yeah.....they seem pretty good. To be honest i wasnt expecting much with the picks we had.
  22. Yes i thought it was the Winterbottom. Not sure what the Kingston Town race is all about, but ill have a look. WA Pyke had 6 placings out of a possible 7 races. So ill just parlaying him for the next few weeks.....i honestly thought hed retired. Thanks for punting again.
  23. Excellent work there Macca. I am also on the WA Pyke get out stakes! I actually only need him to run a place and all will be well. How many more Ascot Carnival race meets are there? I think its 1 more isnt it??
