Thanks wwsw I just listened to Perty on debrief podcast, he certainly addressed all the devils that we have been discussing post that Carlton nightmare game. He gets it. Thanks for highlighting the podcast as I wasn’t aware of it. It was very well conducted.

I was at a function and sitting near both Roffey and Pert during both finals matches. I was amazed on how calm they remained during both matches. Me on the other hand….. 😡🤦🏻

Need to be careful listening to parents of players in same team and without throwing a blanket over all of them. My boy is good mates with Aidan O’Driscoll and parents I speak with are wondering why he’s draftable, they think their kids are just as good. They couldn’t be further from the truth some kids are so clean at ground level, move so smoothly and just make things look so easy the void to Jo citizen is hard to pick up

I agree with this. My nephew is also hoping to be drafted. So, I know his family are probably watching Duursma’s performances with a glass half full lense.
However, I’d hate for us to pick him with our first rounder and it turns out that they’re right and he isn’t that good.

i realise that its unfair and definitely illogical, but i can't help but compare duursma with his brother, who can be great, but is also super flakey..especially after his first season or two. it looks as though the new version is in a class above, but still, from the online games that i watched, not sure that he is what we need right now.. looks more like a pick from 10 on. i'd be happy to land duursma at our second pick, but not our first.

Interesting you say this, I caught up with my family yesterday - my nephew plays with Duursma at Gippsland Power. I asked them what they think of him and where he should land. They said the same thing. They said he can take great marks and can do amazing passages of play, but he can butcher it and goes missing.
They are a little shocked that he is in consideration for a top 5 pick.

Is Jeff Gleeson aligned with Collingwood? Can you please provide a link?

I haven’t posted for a long time, and mostly read for news. Particularly, trade news.
But this, I can categorically say he is.
In my view, the fact that he heard this matter makes me as sick as the actual incident.

  5. I love Jack and would want nothing more than to see him back in the team.

However, I was at Port for the Casey game. He played off the half back line and was ordinary. Admittedly, it was a bad day for the whole team. But, his pace and skills resulted in many turnovers.

I think Maynard will get a run before Trenners. He is tough, and did not look out of place at all.

  6. I like the team.

However, I am somewhat worried about the disposals of 3 of our backline under pressure - Mc brothers and Smith. The game at Etihad and against the Saints is so quick, a turnover results in a goal very quickly.

I'd prefer if Smith had more of a run in the VFL beforehand. Unfortunately, given our injuries, I don't think we have too many options than to give Smith a run. I just hope his disposals are better than they were against the Dogs.

My understanding is that he came back to the club out of shape and essentially gave Oscar McDonald his chance ahead of his time.

This is exactly what I heard also....it's sad given he was the VC the season beforehand.

  8.

Yet to show anything? He looked unbelievable when he played before injuries.

I don't like seeing any player not get a crack at it because of injury, but there is an evil part of all of us, who want this to blow up in Hawthorn'a face.

Obviously Hawks are extremely confident on his knee. The kid will be a gun, if he can get it right.

I agree with you, I wish no pain on the kid, but for Hawks......completely different.

In all fairness although they had more scoring shots and we had more inside 50's, so were just as wasteful as the Giants.

Really hoping we destroy the Bombers!

I agree, however it shows how reliant we are on Hogan to play well. Davis took him out of the match and Dons will no doubt look at how he did it very closely.

  10. I wish I was as confident as you all, but the mfcss in me says let's not get ahead of ourselves. In all fairness we were very lucky GWS kicked themselves out of the match last week. GC had Ablett tearing Dons a new one. I don't think Dons will be as bad as people think.

I'd be happy with just the win as a loss would be devastating to handle.

  11. I look at this in a different way....

It'd be a great time to stock up on the beer while they carry on with this crud. I figure it's a win win, the bar will be empty and I don't have to watch drug cheats walking around our home turf.

What's classier though?  That hand pass or that Salem kick?  Jones must be pinching himself.  Stuck by all these years and we're finally coming up roses!

Did anyone else notice how chuffed Jones was after the short scuffle on the boundary in the third, when he was being pinned down and three or four team mates helped him out....that would not have happened in years past.
