  1. Stick in there OD. You haven’t watched your team win a GF in your 45 years of membership so why worry all of a sudden about making a donation? ? If we get get 100,000 members we will be allocated prime time games and free-to-air TV privileges! Why jump off a winning Club? ?
  2. I am in the local area (one block away) with four children lamenting the lack of accessible sporting facilities!
  3. It doesn’t need to “increase the ability of the playing group” but it would be a mighty shame if we won a GF and had nowhere to celebrate with other Demonlanders, players and the MFC Board! ?
  4. Go to your local coffee shop and read the paper.
  5. It’s double that for us oldies who have hung onto our Guest Pass (formerly “Ladies Ticket”)! (ie. approx $1500 pa with the MFC option)!
  6. I can! They are generally wealthy (but tight) and are there in their droves for the big matches (and the Melbourne Finals)! They congratulate you (as they see you in a MFC scarf, tie, etc) and then are disappointed that you are lukewarm to them. I hate their attitude of why should I pay when I get in free through my ‘cricket’ club membership! It’s own a few extra hundred dollars and a fraction of what the MCC membership costs! ?
  7. Not a man-bun (or a tat) to be seen!
  8. Maybe we should borrow Punt Road a few times midweek? After all, we have allowed Richmond to play their home matches on our ground (the MCG) for decades!
  9. If you look at 200+cm players, the ladder position is roughly inversely proportionate to the number on your team! ?
  10. Bit hard to expect him on the MFC website! ? They would have to remove Basic, Vince, etc first (and add Sparrow)!
  11. I would have suggested Christian Petracca with that grin! ?
  12. DV8 it is the Melbourne Cricket Ground after all (and we started life as the Melbourne Cricket Club Football Club)! Our secret is to strengthen our association rather than ‘untie the apron strings ‘!
  13. Despite the enthusiasm of Binman (which I share), the initial concept is focussed on players and administration rather than a gathering place for the MFC faithfull. There is still a fair bit of concept work to go as I understand and hopefully the patient MFC membership base can end up with a high profile facility next to the “G” which they can own rather than share with other codes. My belief is that it will include components which will benefit the local community rather than merely the Club’s football operations and have a positive outcome for the local area. It is the most appropriate position by a long shot and it has merit on planning grounds which hopefully the Club can elucidate to convince East Melbourne/Richmond that it is a Win/Win proposal!
  14. As an aside, I spoke with Mick Malthouse today (who lives directly opposite our proposed Yarra Park facility)! He is dead against it! (NIMBY?)
  15. Although Hore seems to have shrunk a cm in the course of the article, it is encouraging that he has also managed to add 7 kg on his frame. If he keeps adjusting his body at this rate, he will be ginormous by Round 1!
  16. Weren’t things scheduled to restart again 1.5 hours ago? ?
  17. Nice thoughts guys/(gals)! There are a number of requirements either site, including player car parking! I can see advantages in both. 1) Wellington Parade will involve no building over parkland, but conversion of grassland into an oval/training ground. 2) Olympic Boulevard involves building over parkland but no (perceived) alienation of ‘parkland’ as it is already sporting ovals!
  18. Because the other codes train and play their (and presumably have an administration presence)!
  19. They didn’t announce it before the election! The East Melbourne Group (of Nimbbys) are using it to pressure the politicians of all parties into opposing it! None of their leaders are likely to vote Green but they are using the process to their advantage as they know that this is the month when the politicians are likely to support/oppose anything that will get them votes!
  20. Doesn’t need to remain Gosch’s Paddock! Simply swap with the other codes so that we are the one right on Olympic Boulevard (and our new facilities spanning it)!
  21. No argument on that but the proposal is about centralised administration, gymnasium etc as well!
  22. He told me that he is a Melbourne ‘supporter’ (but I would be positive that he wouldn’t fork out for a membership or be interested enough to attend games)!
  23. Front row, second from the right (in glasses) is the President of the East Melbourne Group!
  24. The MFC have met with them (and found them most negative)! Best to not reveal your hand as they will misrepresent (embryonic/preliminary) information and it gives them time to get advanced with their campaign as at present when they have letter-boxed 4000 households (except mine) and pressured the three major parties!
  25. The current President of the East Melbourne Group just loves to head off to VCAT. He is not your average football loving Aussie and, as for negotiating style, he has never heard of the concept of WIN-WIN as an option where all parties emerge with a great outcome!
