I think it was Leigh Matthews who said "if you've got a good game plan that works, you can tell the opposition what you're going to do, and if you execute it well enoguh, they won't be able to stop you"
-
I think McLuggage could well be in Harmes Crosshairs this week, and if so he may end up spending a fair bit of time on the wing I reckon it's gotta be Tom Sparrow who comes in though
-
Unfortunately i think Adam Cerra is going to end up at Essendon next year, they're exciting, looking like a finals contender, and have the money/trade assets to get it done

Strange times, honestly, i think it would be best for everyone given it's round 11. to move the Bye forward and push the other rounds back, buy some time to assess the situation and figure out how to move forward we know how quickly things can change with covid, and lockdowns and so on. potentially things may look a lot better in 10 days time.

the move to tag Libba was incredibly bold and shows a blueprint for other teams on how to beat the Dogs, awesome stuff

I've been on record saying Ben Brown shouldn't have been dropped but Weid is so close, sure he only kicked 2 goals but he got both hands to the ball a bunch of times. won't be long and they'll stick for him and he'll kick a big bag. we've gotta back him in because the signs are very good. unless Ben or Mitch Brown goes absolutely nuts in the 2's i reckon Weid gets the next 3 games at least

It all seemed to come together last night, i felt like we were quite good out of the middle, which we haven't been this year. and some really good deep clearances i was really impressed with Trent Rivers, he looks an absolute ripper. he may end up being the best of the big three we drafted that year, i'd put some consideration into him moving to the Wing with Langdon out as he's got the pace and skills to be that attacking winger the coaching was brilliant. Goody and co absolutely out coached the dogs, tagging libba was a masterstroke, pressure on the ball carrier killed the handball game (high handball game styles don't stand up against sustained pressure teams) and Jordan i felt kept Bont under control for large patches The Dogs have a lot of talent, but they have some glaring weaknesses. the fact our three marking forwards all kicked multiple goals and got a paddock to work in shows they're a bit like us in 2018. look amazing offensively but the best teams will make them look really easy to score against. I said this during the week and got some unhappy responses but the dogs flat track bully status is confirmed to me. good teams will follow this blueprint and they need to do some work

Arguably the most complete performance from the MFC in the last 15 years, i can't imagine there being any unforced changed Weid was okay, he got his hands to it alot, as he builds in confidence those will stick and he'll kick a bag. he's staying involved in the game a lot more than he has in previous years. with Langdon a confirmed out, it's a matter of who they think is best suited to fill that role.

For all those questioning Brayshaws place in the side, tonight was a great example of how wrong they were. one of the more selfess team games you're likely to see

HUGE loss. Alex Neal Bullen has the running power to play the role, and Tom Sparrow could come in and play as a pressure half forward
-
Super important player. guessing Baker comes in. big shoes to fill

6. James Harmes 5. Clayton Oliver 4. Angus Brayshaw 3. Trent Rivers 2. Tom McDonald 1. Max Gawn

5 minutes with Chris Scott and Joel Selwood and he'll be well and truely indoctrinated
-
Parish is a jet, if i was in charge of North Melbourne i'd be putting a big contract infront of him with Guaranteed midfield time. i think Geelong may be very keen to get him down there as a replacement for Selwood

The 2021 Forwardline: What's our best mix?
Ted Lasso replied to Adam The God's topic in Melbourne Demons
In terms of our best on paper forward line, not taking into account the rest of the ground i'd say Petracca McDonald Neal-Bullen Fritsch B.Brown Pickett with Spargo rotating through. obviously Jackson for example offers a lot to the team, but purely as a forward i wouldn't have him in the mix and i still rate Brown a touch higher than Weid, that may change by the end of the year. and Petracca is a very handy forward option, but obviously vital in the middle these days -
Yes please! anywhere but Marvel!

Got a feeling the boys have been really setting themselves for this game, regardless of results i reckon it's going to be a cracker of a game

Opposition fatigue plays to our strengths in regards to less precision on kicks, more long hack kicks. so we get better as the game goes on, and our improved fitness really highlights this. it's why we've been very good at grinding out games
-
Well we know it's at least Salem in, you'd imagine for Jetta. and i don't mind backing Weid in for another week. but if he has another down week, he's leaving himself open if either of the Browns play well.
-
I would have thought Harmes goes to McRae, he gets big numbers, but he's one of the elite mids when he's given time and space to use the ball, if you watch their games he sets up so many goals. Backing Oliver/Petracca to offset the output of Bont/Hunter and Libba and Viney to cancel each other out. we really just need to keep their mids under control and back in our defence to hold up better than theirs if it's even everywhere else

Umps got it wrong - need a please explain
Ted Lasso replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
you back in the umpires decision either way, but the crows bloke isn't going to handball it towards the boundary line if last touch is a rule, they're going to hack kick it back out, keeps the ball moving, and keeps it in play and prevents repeat F50 stoppages. so imo the net good, would outweight the teething issues that'd come with it. You're probably right about the fact it would be a Crows free, but that would IMV be because of the crowd, not due to any "Cheating" i think a lot of people underestimate the stress that would come on a person with 60k angry crows supporters screaming at them. -
Umps got it wrong - need a please explain
Ted Lasso replied to spirit of norm smith's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is certainly a problem that needs a solution, i feel for the umpire on a human level, but if the crowd is impacting you so much incorrect decisions are deciding games, maybe it's not the right profession for you? I also think the AFL needs to be able to do more. the high likelyhood is we at least level the scores with not enough time for the Crows to score again, so not sure why they can't make the result a draw if they can acknowledge the decision was a mistake -
to be clear, that doesn't mean i don't think they're good, but they're getting talked up as unbeatable. they've had one seriously good win and that's it. to be fair, so have we. but i think beating the Tigers at the G on Anzac day eve is more significant than beating a very inconsistent Port Adelaide
-
This is a pretty defining week for the MFC i think, in my time watching footy when we have been a good side, we've lacked the ruthless edge to stamp ourselves as the best side and own that tag. when we win this weekend it's going to be an incredibly significant win in the history of the MFC

Melksham has demonstrated for a while that just because he doesn't deserve his spot in the team, he'll likely still get it.
