  1. The panel also wouldn’t tell them they’re great. But if a prospective senior coach lets out talk they were amazing then the future job they go for they’ll have a leg up potentially. Especially helpful if in this case they never had a legitimate shot at the role anyways. At least they get something beyond experience It’s like artificial momentum
  2. It’s almost certainly the coaches and managers leaking this rather than the panel.
  3. The entire cats culture has been built around respecting opposition, being yourself and being selfless on and off the field. I think a Kelly/bartel double has the potential to transform the club. It would be a risk, especially if Buckley is keen. But if we make that call I won’t be unhappy
  4. Kelly, king as senior assistant and Bartel as head of strategy as suggested would be a good starting point. Combined with Chaplin, jones and maybe we can find a food forwards coach like Caracalla to come on board
  5. My strong preference is still Buckley but I can’t help but be intrigued by James Kelly. I’ve got a feeling he’s going to be a very good coach when he does get a gig with us or someone else
  6. It blows my mind that anyone at Essendon would be more annoyed at Sam Mitchell than themselves for pushing so many players to want to leave with pure incompetence. Merrett, Ridley, Draper and I’m sure more we don’t know about yet. It’s not Sam Mitchell it’s Essendon being a mess
  7. The bombers have sent the poor bloke off the deep end!
  8. Remember in his youth where clarry went off at the muppet blues fan in the crowd with the 784 chins and rough lid? I still laugh when I think of that
  9. Maybe some special sauce perks like Goodwin and brayshaws salaries secretly popping outside of the soft cap and salary cap as well to smooth it over even further
  10. Offt. James Kelly then? Or Bucks is genuinely a chance to knock the whole machine back? Im amazed goody isn’t the new target. He’s got a better record than bucks and wants to coaxh
  11. I’m guessing Buckley has been offered the role, if he knocks it back it’ll be James Kelly and we will hunt for a senior assistant to support him.
  12. Ah Neeldy. It was a special time. the one time all of Demonland agreed on something, with that something being that we’d made a big blue in coach selection.
  13. Sounds like the club said we might offer you a contract depending on the trade period and JB said he’d rather look elsewhere
  14. No clue mate, I’d guess Nathan Buckley would be one, otherwise I’d imagine he’d have left the race if he felt it didn’t go well. so maybe Buckley, Kelly and lade/gian/king makes you wonder if we have a plan A, B and C if option A would be now considering a job offer and we’re waiting for an answer?
  15. There was a report on here from twitter that James Kelly was one who blew us away
  16. Correct. He’s building a very nice little rap sheet of unsavoury incidents in his first year that the cats seemingly have been totally unwilling and unable to actually prevent or respond to.
  17. If Geelong are as serious an organisation as every says they are, smith is going to face a fairly significant response for this. you can’t be abusing a photographer doing her job at an open training in front of kids and families
  18. The million dollar question is “is everyone besides Nathan Buckley also 20 lengths back with no running room?”
  19. There is absolutely zero chance the panel didn’t grill Buckley on if and how much he wants the job. It’s bucks job to satisfy them that he’s keen. They’re conducting the interview not him
  20. Love your work mate!
  21. Thanks mate! Any word on who’s looking good? Is bucks keen?
  22. I would expect us to work into the trade talks once the new coach is announced. We don’t have much to offer right now.
  23. Caroline Wilson was scathing at Melbourne for their treatment of Goodwin, one of only four people to coach the Demons to a premiership. “How disgraceful, the way Melbourne treated their premiership coach, really,” she said. “I mean, (sacking him) three games out, why not let him stay, he should have been at the best and fairest.” Cleary added: “Did they rush because they thought Carlton might have moved on Michael Voss?” “They did and they botched it,” Wilson responded. So I’m not sure what evidence there is that we’ve botched anything given we haven’t even hired a new coach. Earlier in the same article it states Goodwin was invited to the best and fairest and he declined so Caro saying he should have been there is very very silly from a very experienced journo who absolutely knows better. 7NEWSSimon Goodwin declines Melbourne invite as new club appro...A third club has entered the race for the premiership coach after his ‘disgraceful’ Demons exit.
  24. I’ll try to find a link for you. The opening line says something like “Caro slams the Melbourne football club for its disgraceful treatment of Simon Goodwin”
  25. Or implying we should have hid the decision for 3 additional weeks. A decision she would have rightly slammed us for. Or moved our timeline to the end of the season where we might have been criticised for not acting decisively and potentially missing out on key targets. When someone is determined to slam a club, they’ll find an excuse to do it. That’s not the issue here. The MFC hasn’t been perfect by any means, but while I don’t think we should listen to all criticism from the media, if we do listen we should at least be able to judge if it’s fair criticism or not.
