  1. Oh come off it. Everybody in the universe knows there were deliberate losses. The only question (and it's a crucial one) is whether the players were complicit.
  2. Since when is the AFL compelled to comply with natural justice principals? That's why I asked for a source for the claim that the club would get the opportunity to prepare a defence. The investigation concludes, a report goes to the AFL. Action taken. Sure, the club could go to the courts. This is what Melbourne Storm supporters demanded. Fortunately that didn't happen and that club emerged stronger. I don't want the club punished, but if it is, suck it up and move on. Taking the AFL to court would be extremely silly, and bound to fail in the end.
  3. The AFL has been investigating this for months, and I do expect findings to be released well before the draft. Can you point me to any rule that gives Melbourne the right to prepare a defence? I doubt they have such a right. As far as a punishment is concerned, the AFL has probably already decided one. Don't get me wrong, I don't want anything like this to happen, but be assured that the AFL wants this whole matter resolved quickly.
  4. No, we should just take our medicine and be thankful we got off without further sanction.
  5. Anyone who thinks only individuals will be punished but not the club is living in fantasy land. Carlton was punished as a club. I think we'll be extremely lucky to lose just pick 4.
  6. We would have traded pick 4 for Wellingham and Dawes (reportedly). What's to stop Collingwood demanding pick 4 for Dawes and pick 17 (which they got for Wellingham)?
  7. It's interesting that the Magpie forum consensus is that pick 20 is a fair deal, and they would be rapt to get a pick plus a player. Not that this means anything other than where the average Pie supporter rates him.
  8. De-lurking to congratulate the club on how they have handled the draft so far. Dawes and Clark in the forward halt; a gun mid-fielder with pick 4; Pederson to add ruck strength (hopefully); let's hope Rivers stays. Far better than expected. Well done.
  9. A sensible post at last. Good teams regroup, initiate Plan B, and get on with it. Which I'm certain what will happen. The sky hasn't fallen, other players will get their chance, and a good player may emerge. Good luck to Mitch, and see you next season better than ever.
  10. Unbelievable. All Australian games, including the ultra violent, collision rugby codes, have a tradition of shaking hands with players you were trying to kill. Not shaking Scully's hand would have been spineless and disgraceful.
  11. We got Mitch with the money Scully released, and we still have a compensatory draft pick. Major win.
  12. Yes classier. What did you want to see, a fistfight? Scully was far from the worst for GWS, and he will be a very good, 200 game AFL player. Christ, move on. The club has.
  13. What, apart from whacking our captain? It was great, and even the umpire in charge (surprisingly) thought it was a fair enough thing and let play go on. Well done Jones.
  14. The look on my son's face in the rooms after the match will stay with my for a very long time.
  15. Interesting that webjet it to air travel what Energy Watch is to electricity production.
  16. New member here, and probably won't post much, but this is great news. Webjet is a company going places, just like the Demons.
