  1. Yes obviously, but the club the new CEO takes over is light years away from the one PJ did. The fundamentals, plans and structures are in place. The troughs have been cleaned out. We no longer need a reformer or restructurer. We need someone to carry on PJ’s legacy. The hard work (administratively) has been done. We need safe hands and an internal candidate makes sense now.
  2. I understand that. My point was that he didn’t have any real experience beyond football when he became CEO. Broader experience is probably desirable as CEO, but not necessarily mandatory. Having said that, GdC is probably a very good choice, particularly with his AFL and negotiating experience.
  3. I don’t want to nit pick, but I’m pretty sure he got those directorships after he became Richmond CEO.
  4. Yeah, probably not ready for that step yet, but remember Gale has had no experience outside football and he turned into a pretty decent CEO. Ryan Larkin is going places and it will be a pity if it’s outside the club.
  5. Yes, a very good candidate. What I don’t want to see is an external candidate come in and completely restructure the club. Jackson has done this and I think most would agree that the club, as a business, is functioning better than ever.
  6. Ryan Larkin. Look up the staff list. One of the General Managers and highly regarded.
  7. I think you might be right. Some of his major achievements have been strengthening club management and developing internal staff. Every decent organisation has a detailed succession plan, and I’m certain Melbourne does. Don’t be surprised if it’s a current staff member.
  8. The honest answer. If it were me I would hire a small car. Quicker,; you can take side trips if you want; no waiting; don’t have to put up with opposition supporters on the train if things go bad; not expensive or not a lot of frequent flyer points; keep the receipts and claim on tax........better ignore the last point. I would never, ever do that.?
  9. The comparison with Diesel is faulty. He didn’t have to deal with the congestion at the ball players today have to deal with. Diesel used to hit a running player on the chest 20 meters away. Clarrie does it with half a dozen players surrounding him. No comparison at all. All that needs to happen is for midfielders to get used to his instincts.
  10. A few junk time goals are nothing to worry about. Six goal win sets the season up again.
  11. I haven’t read this thread but I assume that the sentiment is positive, and I agree. I trust club management. But I have a strong family attachment to the Bentleigh Club I won’t go into detail here. I hope this decision doesn’t lead to the demise of this club. Too many strong and pleasant memories involved.
  12. I think it's become apparent over the past few decades that successful clubs need successful administrations - which I think the cub now has. But it can't afford to be hampered by substandard accommodation. Let's hope this plan goes through.
  13. Oh please. What rubbish. Grimes would walk into any team in the comp. BTW I think he was picked up in the rookie draft. I wish we had picked him, but good luck to him. He's not only a very good footballer, but a great bloke.
