  1. Look at it anyway you like but Goodwin is our most successful coach since Norm Smith.
  2. This makes 'picket fence' comments about Max's game look pretty silly...
  3. A class act is Daisy...she spoke so well tonight.
  4. A true champion of the game and well deserved...congratulations Daisy. melbournefc.com.auAFL Hall of Fame | Pearce's historical inductionThe Melbourne Football Club congratulates inaugural AFLW captain Daisy Pearce on her induction into the Australian Football Hall of Fame
  5. 100% with you on this 'mono', I've written about it on this forum many times in the past. It's so dangerous that I would go one step further and make it a reportable offence. I don't fear as much for the [censored] that does it but the poor player who would have to carry the thought that he was part of causing another human to be paralysed.
  6. I've seen so much rubbish written on this thread and stayed off it for the most part. Will again.
  7. Umpires please...started on Saturday night and still going strong.
  8. Thanks 'Nasher', much appreciated. A pity the AFL seem so inflexible yet it's ok for GWS & GCS to play on what are to all intents and purposes suburban grounds.
  9. You're spot on "Roost', pressure is a fundamental of the game and nothing to do with game style of plan.
  10. So it's a list problem... This has nothing to do with game plan. The coach can only work with the list he has and get the best from it. For all the knocks on him by posters such as your good self he's the best coach we've had since Smith. As you like to point to scoreboard and results, he's a Premiership coach.
  11. It's not our game being all about pressure. As I said before any team that drops off the pressure struggles. So, it's not about our game being about pressure it's about the game being about pressure to a large extent.
  12. Make up your mind...Pressure or scoring opportunities??? For what it's worth, I think we have a list problem. ...and to win with this list anything short of maximum pressure and we don't win...
  13. Suggests nothing of the sort.
  14. It's not...
  15. Look at every AFL game, all teams this season and if they don't bring the pressure they lose. It's a very important part of the game. I don't think any coach, including Simon think it's the only or pre-eminent method of play but without it you don't win.
  16. Nick maybe living in a bubble...I've heard different from other people. I'm interested in the views of our Tasmanian supporters on this site. Where does this sit?
  17. That's great news, I was going to post that she would be one we really need to lock in. So much potential...
  18. I wonder if the gravy train might be coming to the end of the cycle...
  19. He's an absolute ripper 'Norm', will kick one then the monkey will be off his back. I think Lindsay is the better player, I'm more concerned with Langford on a wing & in general. fumbles too much below his knees and gets caught out in 2 way running, would rather Windsor or Langdon back on one wing. Lindsay is good on the other...
  20. Agree, it was frustrating in the early games. I wonder what changed? Just thinking aloud, it could of been the culmination of a few things. Maybe Goodwin gave them an old fashioned rocket. I doubt he would have given an old fashioned bake but he would have made his thoughts known. The game clicking into place...concentration on the specifics of the plan previously meant not enough on basics like pressure. Getting some flow into the game. Fitness & form...The Clarry move whilst pilloried by many in the media seems to have been a master stroke for one. A bit of a rocket in dropping Fritsch & JVR putting players on notice. It's never just one thing.
  21. Application of learning & skill development takes time to show up. All others have been saying is that it's something we've been working on for a while. From round 6 we've started to see the results of that work break through. The great jazz saxophonist Michael Brecker talked about the frustration of practicing a new skill but not seeing the results on the bandstand. Then 6 months later it would start to show through. It was as though it came from out of nowhere. The significant shift might have shown up from round 6 but it was the culmination of a lot of hard work started way before then. Surely that makes sense.

I've got mixed feelings about the outcome based suspensions. On the one hand if you are serious about looking after the player with the ball (avoiding concussion) then it would seem to me that incident based would be a better system. On the other hand, and I will defer to the lawyers here...it appears the current system of outcome based suspensions follows our legal system. If you are convicted of attempted murder do you get the same sentence as for murder?
  23. I'm not sure anyone was particularly impressed. I haven't noticed anyone going over the top in regards to the performance.
  24. From what I noticed today with JVR...2 things he hasn't been doing at AFL level. He took one grab marks and he led up at the ball. That's all we need to see at the moment no matter the opposition. A big forward step for mine.
