Sometimes Stu, you just can't play players for the future. You need experieced hard bodied players to help the kids through so they gain that experience. Look at GWS....For the first few years they just played kids. Then added players like Shaw,Mummy,Griffen,Johnson etc etc to be a fairly balanced side Their kids are beginning to gain maturity and are growing into their bodies. You need players that are 25 to 34 to balance your list otherwise all you are left with are kids that are played way to early. We have been down that road before.

Gee a week in football is a long time.........Vince was nearly BOG last week against Port and 1 week later people want him dropped. Talk about a overreaction. Bernie has been great since he came across from Adelaide, He provides leadership for our young players,is a professional the way he prepares and is our current "Bluey" holder and has been fairly prominate in our wins this year Yes he has had a few bad games but he is not alone in this. Get off his back

It doesn't matter who kicks the goals........I'd rather have 10 players kick goals and win, rather than Hogan kick 5 and lose

3 years ago, Misson stated that it would take 3 years to get this team to AFL fitness, a lot of posters had a go at him and some very nasty comments have been made over the three years This year has been the least amount of injuries that the club has had for as long as I can remember. Misson was right.

North tried that.......Not working out well for them....Just saying

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 22
Bossdog replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do you want fries with that.???? -
The AFL are really the worst.......How come Sydney have to play their home finals at ANZ Stadium?.....They haven't played there all year....It is NOT Sydney's home ground....The surface is crap and shifts.....How is this fair? I know that it doesn't affect us but lets try to run a fair competition. I suppose Adelaid will have to play at AAMI stadium.....No I didn't think so.

My Aunty, who is 95 and still goes to all our games at the G, saw Hassa Mann at the Hawthorn game and had a long conversation with him (she sure can talk) about his playing days. Wonderful player and a wonderful man.

Bossdog replied to Ricky P's topic in Melbourne Demons

Wow....Just read the Game day thread.........I am so glad I don't read it during a game........What a lot of whingeing, back biting, woe is me comments Don't think I will read it again.......Can you put a thread on ignore???
-
Geez Doc......He is a 20 year old playing in his second full season of footy.....He had a great year last year and has kicked nearly 40 goals this year......He is not our only option up forward now as the emergence of other forwards progresses. Our expectations grew as a result of last year. How about we just give the kid a break. It's a hard old game this footy caper ....you can't expect all the players in the side to play blinders, just be thankful that we are winning when a few stars have off days.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
Bossdog replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seeing he is contracted until the end of the 2017 season......I don't see what the panic is all about -
So....What happens when we get a 40 point flogging by Port this week? Was Ox right or wrong? We are a very young side and will be prone to great games like against Hawthorn and absolute shockers like against Gold Coast and St Kilda.
-
All I ask is that posters don't shlt can him after one game....I don't expect him to have a big influence on the game This selection is for the future......Up against one of the hardest teams in the comp , to learn what it is all about at the elite level. I think that he will be given two games and then back to Casey for their finals series. Good luck to the lad.

I don't know RL......Just visit DL on any thread........Even "Around the grounds" thread there is constant umpire bashings.
-
Hahahaha.....Please.....He kicked 44.19 in his first season and is on track to kick over 50 in his second....What more do you want from a 21 year old playing as a key position forward?
-
You would have hated Rod Grinter then.

We are a minority now.........(Joke Joyce. Don't take it to heart)

Oh Stu.....Please....It was an example not meant to be taken literally. I have a Scottish background.
-
Stu....I don't think the average Australian cares where people come from In the 60's It was the Greeks and Italians who immigrated.......70's and 80's it was the Vietnamese, after some years all have assimilated into main stream life here Now it is the Africans.....Given time they will too. I don't need the AFL to seperate different cultures or to tell me that I should appreciate where players or people come from. I already know. If they play for the MFC ....I love em.....if not I don't. When is the white peoples round? It's a game of footy which people go to to forget about political bulls**t for a few hours.
-
So.....Roos may well of not bothered to come to the MFC......You don't give him credit for any improvement to the team???? We have seen before that top draft picks mean nothing....You need a coach that will mould and develop players into a good team and after the basket case which our team was, I credit him with bringing it all together, where the players are confident and willing to get the wins and being in a game and knowing that they can win. To me Roos is a smart operator and has set up this team for sucess.
-
Swooper installed a "Us against the world" game plan.....We did not have the big stars of other teams but a team that would never give up. Danners had more of a game plan for the modern game but seemed to change it every year hence our "Good year...Bad year...progress. Roos has had to rebuild from virtually scratch and now has the makings of a very good side I find it impossible to compare them due to all the different circumstances.

The AFL has so many themed rounds these day that they all merge into one. There is Aboriginal Rd, Breast Cancer round, Ice bath Rd, Multi cultural Rd. Womens Rd. Maddies Rd ect, ect, ect We seem to change our jumpers (all teams) to suit the particular rd. I am aware of the causes these themes represent but I go to the footy to forget about life's troubles for a couple of hours yet I can't even then, escape peoples woes. I do like the respect of ANZAC day. The youth of today should see what men and women of this country went through. The AFL is not my consious. I will decide what charities and causes I follow
