  1. The long term strategy could easily be totally wrong. Have you entertained that thought? Or do you just 'buy in' because they asked you to?
  2. At various times in the clubs history. I don't want to argue with you for 2 days. It's pointless. You have your opinion and it's doubtful you'll change your mind. I've said what I've said and I don't want to repeat myself.
  3. Right now, the people in place are performing poorly. From the top down. And we have a history of performing poorly. Especially in the last 6+ years.
  4. Are you sure about that re Cameron Schwab?
  5. Satyriconhome, on 16 Apr 2013 - 07:52, said: I have my own opinions - I'm not and never have been 'media driven'. Been saying largely the same thing for years. It's about everyone at the club - not about any individual. You only have to look at how the team is or has been playing for proof positive. It's right before our eyes. I don't believe the spin and the bs. If you and others choose to, then that's your decision.
  6. Gday ad, I'm certainly not excluding the players from any blame. But it starts from the top down. This is almost certainly going to be our 7th poor season in a row. It cannot just be a player problem. It's the easily identifiable reason but a team can't be this bad for this long without management issues. The Board make the appointments either directly or indirectly and also oversee everything. The Administration also have a hand in appointments and also oversee things. The Football Department and the coaches have their responsibilities and they list or delist players and so on and so forth. There is obviously a lot more to it but that's a quick overview. Then we have the players and their output. There's a chain of command and if things go badly wrong for a long period of time it has to be a management issue. As an example ... We know that the defensive aspects of our game and our accountability skills were poor under Dean Bailey. Is that the players fault or the fault of those coaching and instructing them? And who was keeping a watchful eye over the FD and the coaches? It all starts at the top. Our CEO was moved on last Tuesday so perhaps that's the first move in addressing things at the top. Though we were told that CS 'polarising the supporter base' was a reason for letting him go.
  7. No, we need change from the top down. I've made a number of references as to why and how in posts #49, #69, #71 and #73 in this thread. .
  8. How come we're the only club that talks about 3 pre-seasons to get fit? Has it crossed people's minds that these people are protecting their own interests. It's called an excuse in advance. In other words, these people are all earning a truckload of money out of football and they cannot ever be seen as failures. Otherwise the money might dry up. They could easily be protecting their own careers. So throw it out there that it's going to take 3 pre-seasons to get these players 'AFL' ready and if the team gets smashed, you've already got the excuse laid out. An extension of this ridiculous notion is that any 18 year will only be able to be 'AFL ready' in his 3rd season of footy. Viney looks ready to go. Wines as well. It's been said that we used last years 'season proper' as another pre-season. Including the 2 actual pre-seasons, that makes 3. So why do we look so tired and unfit? I don't buy it. It's just more spin and more bs. .
  9. I've got no problem with a differing view rjay. But the facts are the facts. My views could look depressing on first glance but it's not like I don't offer a solution. Or at least an opinion of how we can get better. After the 1st game I laid the blame at everyone in our club. Everyone at the club needed to examine what they brought to the table. Instead of pointing the finger. So what did we do? We pointed the finger at Cameron Schwab. We need change from the top down. We sacked the CEO but how is that going to fix our immediate on field problems? Maybe long term there will be some tangible effects from a change of the CEO but in the Chairman's words, it was a move to appease the supporters who were 'Polarised' by CS. Hate to bang on about it, but it just looked totally amateurish and it sums up our club. .
  10. They'd probably have better careers elsewhere. That's almost certain. We are the non developers of footballers. Half our blokes can't even kick to position. By the time many of our players have reached 22/23 years of age they're ready to be delisted. Not one A grader on our list and not many B graders. We have a percentage of 35 and have had only one legitimate win since '186'. .
  11. The thing that irks me the most is that all these heavy losses are compared to other times when our team or other teams had all these terrible losses. Comparing mediocrity with mediocrity somehow 'explains' things. It's all rubbish. The sooner the lot of us start demanding more from the club then the better off we'll all be. It's not all doom and gloom. We are in doom and gloom right now. We need to extricate ourselves out of it. The club needs a strong leader who will bring about change. A no nonsense character who will take no prisoners. Someone who demands that everyone within the club is working towards winning every single game.
  12. The club, in my eyes, may be viewing these continual heavy losses as some sort of stepping stone to greatness. They've probably convinced themselves that the losses don't matter. The losses do matter. We have a percentage of 35. How embarrassing is that? Our players are listless and they look like they'd rather be somewhere else. They've forgotten how to play football. We're a club in denial. But according to many there's no need to panic or react. It'll all come good in their eyes. Keep the faith they say. Faith in what? Stuff they tell us? Sorry, I don't believe a word of it. Actions speaks louder than words. We're seeing very little action and we've been hearing lots of words for far too long.
  13. I said IF the maximum grade is A. We don't go around calling Ablett an A+ grader. He is simply called an A grader. If we call Ablett an A grader can we call Jones an A grader? Jones is a good player - being a B grader is not an insult in my eyes. .
  14. I thought I did. I made a comment about how I thought our club has been since the appointment of Bailey. Do you believe otherwise?
  15. If Jones and Clark are A graders and the maximum grade is A, what grade do you give Ablett, Judd, Pendlebury and Buddy?
  16. Not criticising your post C&B, just adding. Our club never talks about winning games. From the top down. It's not demanded therefore there are no expectations. The whole club including all the players, coaching staff, administration and Board talk about everything else other than winning. According to the lot of them, winning is a bi-product of structures, systems, key performance indicators, processes, fitness levels and the rest of the utter garbage and bs they throw our way. Many supporters lap it up but it's all spin. Total spin. Apart from the Board members, the rest of them are getting exceptionally well paid for just being there. There is no accountability because not enough of our supporters demand wins.Too many of us believe their spin. It's been going on since the appointment of Bailey. Perhaps even earlier.

Hopefully a damn side better this season! Rodgers was sacked 51 times last year! Though he does 'take' a lot of sacks. Frightens the hell out of me though. Obviously the strength of the Packers is Aaron and to lesser extent our WR's. Jennings will be missed though he missed a number of games last year. He's gone off to join 'cfh's blokes. Good luck to him though - he served Green Bay very well. McCarthy is trying to address our defensive deficiencies but there's still a ways to go. It's our achilles' heel but our defence does stand up on occasions. Often in some big games. But overall, it's a weakness. Dalton is still quite young at 25 and his passer rating isn't too bad at all. He got sacked 46 times though. Often that stat needs greater analysis but Brees, Brady and both Manning brothers get well protected. Eli sat at only 19 sacks last season.

Lakers defeat the Spurs without Kobe! If Utah lose at Minnesota tomorrow then LA are in. Otherwise, it comes down to the last game of the season for both sides. Overall seedings are not done yet ... standings ... ... Spurs @ Lakers highlights

Ha! On the Packers fan site they are constantly into McCarthy - and no one seems to mind. Winning a Super Bowl doesn't win you that many brownie points I'm afraid. The thinking is a lot different over there of course. It's win or it's cya later - I like that way of thinking. Keeps everyone on edge and besides, comfort zones are for losers. For the life of me, I don't understand why a player or a coach needs 'security' in order to do well. My thinking is the opposite and always will be. The Ravens have lost a few and picked up a few but it's hard to see them dropping off anyway. If Big Ben stays fit the Steelers can beat anyone. Not sure about Cleveland but there was talk they might improve. It ain't gonna be easy for Cinci whichever way you look at it. Think you'll be thereabouts though. The actual schedule comes out in a day or so but if you go to this site (2013 NFL Football Schedules ) and click on your team, you'll get to see all the teams that you play (home and away). The NFC North schedule is tough and everything is going to boil down to how the teams perform within the Division. I noticed that the all the AFC North teams play all the teams from the NFC North this upcoming season. My Packers have to visit your blokes at some stage. .

Occasionally will look at the games Strafford. Usually just the bowls but not with any great interest. If they had a proper finals system I may get more interested. I follow the NHL and the NBA so in the end, there is literally no time left ! When there is a good seeding match-up I'll tune in but not avidly. Got a mate who follows it closely ... I have no idea how he finds the time as he also is a Hoops, Hockey and Baseball freak. The Bengals haven't been too far away in the last 2 seasons from progressing further in the playoffs and winning your Division. Tough, tough division you're in though. Bit like a few other divisions ... the NFC West, the NFC North and the NFC East are other tough divisions. Many on here follow teams in the NFC so it's good to have a few more here from the AFC. Although KC, Denver, the Jets and a sprinkling of others are well supported. It's usually fairly 'friendly' on this thread although there's been the odd 'moment'. We're all Demons so things never get out of hand. I don't mind other teams doing well for fellow supporters. We all need a bit of sporting joy! There's some knowledgeable fans on the thread. I tend to post in an 'overview' way ... leave the intricate stuff alone most of the time! Welcome aboard .

Great Scott! We've finally done it. What a fantastic win and after his last day in last year's British Open, what a way to bounce back. To win the Masters and the green jacket. Well done Adam Scott - you've done your Country proud. Cabrera was great again ... he is such a great fighter and competitor. Jason Day fought hard as well and his day will come. But it's our day .... at last! .
  23. Anyone might think our players may be having a warm mug of horlicks at half time. Or a 'powernap' gone wrong? Maybe they're being forced to read 'Sleepers, Wake!' at the major break.
