  1. When Mitch either returns to us or does the right thing by us ie. agree to a trade, a lot of demonlanders will need to have a good hard look at themselves. The disgusting vitriol shown here is an indictment on our club and the majority of supporters. Based on nothing but speculation from journos who have repeatedly been discredited and chastised on this very forum, many have chosen to attack personally a man who is suffering a mental illness. Get a grip!

  3. I am doing my Honours year as a history student, Tony is my supervisor. I spoke to him yesterday and he gave me a sneak peak at the article. He is really passionate about both footy and baseball and wrote this with nothing but the best of intentions re the Dees. He really believes that we could facilitate this partnership and bring the Red Socks to Melbourne.

  4. because he hasnt shown any capacity to be SOLID !!!

I think his year has been solid. With the continuing improvement that this 23 year old, I repeat 23 Year old has shown under Roos, I have little doubt he will be a very solid player for many years to come.

  5. I popped into the Cattery yesterday to grab my first look at Billy live.

There is no way he will slip to us for a third round pick. We would have to trade our second round pick for this to be possible.

The kid is a gem. Quick, poised, evasive and a good ball user.

What I was most impressed in was his ability to gut run both offensively and defensively. He covers the ground really well and ran arch to arch all day. He finds ways to involve himself in play through hard work and no shortage of smarts.

He drifted forward and took a great contested mark, finishing with a goal, he ran the wings aggressively, providing run and involving himself in many rebound 50s.

There seemed to be a very low stoppage count throughout the game, the few he was involved in he set up aprox 5-10 meters off the stoppage so as to best utilise his pace.

Over all I was very impressed with his game. He will be a ripper and well worth a second round pick.

  6. If he stays I will be very happy, he has proven that he can be a star. He would be clearly an important part of our back 6 into the future.

If he goes and we can use the compo pick to gain an A grader through the draft or through another Tyson type trade, I will also be very happy.

I fail to see any down side for us.

  7. The fact that we, myself included, are lamenting the fact that Cross is out for a month shows how far we still have to go as a football cub.

Cross has been nothing short of fantastic this year. His defensive efforts and work rate are second to none. The fact remains however that we are reliant on too few and our depth includes players that will not be on the list long term.

I look forward to the day when we have a group of young, highly rated and deserving players occupying position 23-30 on our list, with the remaining spots filled by project and depth players.

I am very much of the school of thought, unlike previous years, of having full faith in the coaching staff and their decision making come selection time. Based on the trend of the year I see there being minimal changes this week.

Terlich will play as flagged by Roos and the other inclusion will be the player that the coaching staff best believe can fill the role required. Yes this may include players that we here consider 'not up to AFL standard', however we must trust, that strange as it seems, the selection committee know more about what's required than us.

Whoever makes the final 22 has a real opportunity. With a depleted Dogs outfit we can exact revenge for the poor showing earlier in the year. Dees by 15.

  8. From what I've read, Mitchell leaving Sydney would be like Viney leaving Melbourne.

Although not getting a game right at the minute, Mitchell is a swan through and through and is vey much in the future plans for Sydney.

    Cant see him leaving.

  9. Serious question Steve why is a left handed one any more beautiful than a well played right handed one?

Surely a good kick is a good kick no matter what foot it comes from!

Good question. I don't have an answer.

It just seems to look more natural, fluent, even effortless

  10. What is it about left foot kicks that make so many of them look sublime?

(It's possibly not even backed up statistically, but it just seems there are so many who have this liquid style which isn't seen as often in right foot kicks).

Same with Cricketers, a left handed cover drive is a thing of beauty.

  11. McDonald - Cloke

    Dunn - White

    Garland - Elliot

    Howe - Goldsack

Jetta - Fasolo (most dangerous small)

    N Jones - Pendels

    Cross - Beams

Tyson - Macaffer (I think this is what Bucks will do)

Grimes - Young (Young is playing the distributer role, Grimes to play defensive forward)

    Dawes - Frost

    Pederson - Keefe

    Frawley - ?

I think we have the tools in the back half to cover them.

The midfield battle will be fascinating and will be where the game is won and lost.

We may be able to stretch them forward of centre.
