  1. Jones is one of our very few outside options. He plays a very important role and has performed well at times this season. Until we have a number of genuine wingers he stays

  2. It must be really tough living life as pessimistic as some people here. We are a young unit playing one of the best and biggest bodied teams in the comp and it's wet. Yes we are not playing the best but the default setting of deriding both players and coaches is quite simply poor form.

  3. fantastic interview. Whilst he spoke I reflected on where we were and where we are now, we have a lot to thank Paul Roos for. We were below a laughing stock, we were irrelevant. Three years on we are exciting and the talk is all about future rather than past. Cheers Roosy

  4. 10 hours ago, It's Time said:

Here's the future pick trading rule from the official AFL announcement

AFL general counsel Andrew Dillon said the following rules would govern trading of future draft picks:

    -       Clubs can trade one year in the future only.

    -       Clubs must make at least two first-round selections in each four-year period. If they don't, they will face restrictions from trading any further first-round draft picks.

    -       If a club trades a future first-round selection, it may not trade any other future selection from that same draft. But if a club keeps its future first-round selection, it can trade any of its future selections from other rounds.

Dillon said most clubs had supported this future trading model.

Im not sure how the last point works because Pies traded away their first round pick this year for Treloar and their 2nd round pick for Aish. So somehow it didn't apply.

Pies traded the second round selection they got for Freeman. They used their own second rounder in the draft

  5. Dawes at his best is in the 22, if he can get back to that is an entirely different question. What he does provide though is depth, which for the first time in recent memory we have in almost every position (ruck being the exception) A fit and fiering Dawes keeps pressure on Pedo/Frost and allows Wiederman to develop his craft at Casey

  6. My theory on M Jones...

he was recruited from Box Hill, working under an elite Hawthorn game plan and is benefiting from playing in a good Melb team. A friend who played with him still maintains his run and spread is up there with the best he's seen. A good contested ball winning midfield = a good Jones

  8. I will be most interested in how our small forwards perform this week. Kent, Garlett and Kennedy were fantastic with the pressure they applied against Port and it will be key to beating the Doggies this week. The Dogs entire game plan is built around rebound from the D50 with players like Murphy, Wood etc, it will be interesting to see if we can counter their style and make their defenders defend.
