The Pies need a half-back or two due to injury while we're fairly flush in this regard and could do with a forward who can ruck. Maybe we could sort a three-way deal for Lumumba to Collingwood, Varcoe to Geelong, and Clarke to us in return?
There's some truth to this rumour, but I heard the Dee's baulked at the offer and demanded Blease be packaged in with Clark.

Anyone know who's playing back-up ruck for Port? Obviously Trengrove is playing 1st ruck. But I thought Watts was pretty good as a back-up on Sunday. I actually thought it brought him into the game and led to an increased involvement. If he is having a poor game in the future I'd use the tactic again to try and get him going.
Westhoff at the moment but they could throw it to Dixon if they wanted to.

Like others, I had "hoped he would become a good player in a few years" - he is streets ahead already of what I (admittedly very inexpertly) has seen as his ceiling, and in double quick time.
Well done and keep it up.
I like to think that its a result of our new found depth, last year he was in and out of the side as first year player.
This year he got to spend the first 4 or so weeks in the VFL finding the ball and nows its transition to next level up.
Cant wait to see what Weideman will do next year.

The diamond defences biggest test will be Hawthorn.
It will either help us cause an upset by winning it from the centre or it will cost us a heavy defeat.
In that being said going man on man in the past has still seen us beaten convincingly by Hawthorn, might as well keep rolling with it.

In: Pedo, Trengove, Jetta, Tyson
Out: Oliver, Michie, OMac, Hunt
Newton and ANB should stay in to give them a couple of games to show us what they've got, on that basis Michie goes out, I don't think he's been horrible but I don't think he's done enough to hold a spot when we have players racking up 30 possies each week. Oliver has a corkie and I'd rather get him 100% for Hawthorn, same with Hunt, I'd like to get him rested and use his speed to exploit Hawthorn.

A lot of players were well down on their best but we still won comfortably which is good.
Stretch has managed to secure a spot in our best 22 which is brilliant, hopefully we will see the same with ANB and Newton if they get an extended run.
However, ANB and Newton both came in for players who you would think will slot straight back in next week which is disappointing for them but great for our depth.

haha I came to say the same thing.
Take a bow Selwood, this is what you've contributed to the game of Aussie Rules.
6 free's for, ridiculous.
I'm glad ANB gave him a spray when Oliver caught him"high".

Geez Watts would be angry, he's given away a few and been burnt every time he's owed one.

Congratulations Rhy Mathieson, made your debut and I already really don't like you.

Jones, vince, viney, gawn all having very average days. Hogan and Petracca our best by far, Stretch close behind. Martin has done a great job of silencing Gawn but also can't get involved himself.
Very uninspiring game.
Martin has basically played the whole game forward, its West thats getting the better of him.

Either Roos is looking forward or he doesnt rate Dunn. I feel for Dunn hes.... better than Omac and garland.
If they're looking forward then I don't think you can put that on Roos, this is Goodwins team, the players he wants to play next year will be given preference.

Poor Watts...

Could there be a directive for Maxy to not be involved so much around the ground today so he can take all the centre bounces with our lack of a 2nd ruck?

From the BF board:
"viney gawn and jones also carrying illness, but apparently well enough to play. seems like something going through the club. Hopefully we're not flat"
That's a bit of a worry!!
Convenient that the names mentioned are our key players.
Does it happen to be affecting Garland, Hunt, Wagner, etc.

No back concerns for Tyson.
Not necessarily, that illness could have him arching his back over a toilet bowl.

Agreed, this round has been a bit of realty check that we're not exactly flying.
We've won 4 matches, but so have Collingwood and Port who have been horrible. Carlton won 4 in a row, I don't think anyone expected them to win 4 games. Richmond are now only 1 game behind us, we need to win games like this and convincingly.

Maybe Tommy Mc goes forward and takes the 2nd ruck...he's the only one with some ruck experience.
I support this, TMac has been very underwhelming down back this year. Aside from his kicking I believe the forward/2nd ruck role is what TMac should be playing, has the clean marking (mostly), endurance and strength. It also where he was playing when he got drafted.

If their cards are being marked then why are they getting contracts?
People have said Garland is on his way out, yet he got a 2 or 3 year contract extension at the end of last year.
Dunn is contracted next season, I have no issue with someone who is coming out of contact spending the rest of their time at Casey but if you have another year to run its absolutely ridiculous.
