So that's one. VandenBerg looked sore and Stretch and Oliver came into the game as it went on but the latter in particular looked to be running up and down on the one spot at one stage.

Depends on the role required on a small ground I guess.

Think it was cramp

He's working his way into it, 9 tackles today shows he's working hard.

He'll get better each week but I don't think we'll see his best until next year, glad he's back.

Frost has also played well down back, lets not do the whole defenders play forward thing again.

Jones and Vince are good players, but they both try to do to much with the ball.

Dinky kicks, spears to high or to low, snaps over the man on the mark without moving away far enough for kicking.

Bad option with kick inside by Gawn to Dawes under the pump who marked it, could not believe it.

Finally some free running, simple chest mark uncontested... dropped. Momentum killed.

So much congestion, are the players trying to get on camera?

He WILL play Q B and play very well!

Watts has played maybe 3 or 4 games in that role. Dawes many more than that i would have thought. I am guessing the coaches wanted him in his first up game to just settle into a role up forward as well as getting his match fitness up without asking/demanding too much of him physically. Probably do the same in the next week or so until he does. Then push him into an occasional ruck relief role if his body holds up. He is prone to injury agreed and always a risk but only the FD/Dawes himself would know how his body is doing. Not sure how you would know he is going to be "out" of the side within the next month or so unless you have a crystal ball.

No I don't have a crystal ball, but I didn't expect every single word I wrote to be taken in the literal sense.

If I had to post a bunch of assumptions, constraints and scope with each comment I would have gone to work today instead.

I'd say its more to do with continuity rather than choice, when Pedersen went out we had no second ruck so we gave the job to Watts who has done it admirably for a couple of weeks before Dawes has come in.

Now that Dawes has come in we could have given that job to him but then we're taking away a role that Watts may be getting used to. Anyway Dawes playing as second ruck in the past has not been any better than Watts, and knowing his body he'll be out the side with the next month and we would then have to give the role back to Watts.

Maybe thats why Dunn is on the wing, to loose a few kgs that some people are saying he's carrying.

We could have played ANB as a second ruck yesterday as well, cause they developed him there about 6 weeks ago if you go based on the team sheets.
