  1. So I guess his season is over again.
  2. Kicking it to players when they're looking in the opposite direction? Though that was Garland...
  3. I think that makes sense, with the addition of Hibberd there isn't a lot of room down back. I expect Hibberd will play that undersized third tall so we have more of a running side. As long as the defenders work together you can play undersized players on the key talls, just have to ensure we don't get exposed on quick rebounds.
  4. Watching the AFLW Giant / Freo, both teams wearing predominantly white. From behind I cant tell who is who, how's that not a clash AFL?
  5. Slightly off topic, but Brisbane looked good today. Tayla Harris was very impressive with her marking and set shots.
  6. James, he's got the premiership experience which has done wonders for us in the past.
  7. Classic derail, thread titled Josh Kelly but there's discussions of at least 6 other players in the same thread.
  8. He's going into his 4th season, restricted free agency is 6 or 7 years.
  9. He's not a free agent so you have to trade. Either that or he walks out on GWS and you hope he makes through to you in the preseason draft which is no chance.

There's going to be plenty of balls going into their defence this year so he's going to have every opportunity to make that happen.
  11. I don't think the Champion Data stuff is any better, the below "Champion Data" based article ranked us as having the worst midfield. Who has the best midfield in the AFL?
  12. We were not in very good shape until 3 years ago when some guys from Jackson and Co. came in and gutted the joint and started again. We are now in a reasonable shape as each year we're making gains on KPI's. Since Jackson and Co. came in the following has occurred: Year on year growth in membership numbers. Year on year growth in on field wins. Year on year growth in crowd attendances. In the coming years we're all expecting these to continue on the same trend as these are what will drive us to on and off field success and allow us to some day have the equity to do things like standalone VFL teams. The teams that have their own standalone VFL sides have had the capital to be able to afford a VFL side by either having one of or a combination of on and off field success over the last 10 years. While these teams have either been playing finals, winning flags, signing lucrative sponsorship deals and keeping memberships numbers over 50k, we've been not playing finals, finishing bottom of the ladder, losing sponsors, signing sponsors who have impacted our club negatively, and hiring personnel who are not component to manage these issues. I also don't think in the history of our club ever had a membership base over 40k, which for all the history and heritage we have is incredibly poor. A lot of work has gone into this club in the last 3 years, not everything is going to happen overnight but there is daylight between where we were 3 years ago and where we are now. Unless you're real name is Carlos Tevez then I doubt you have the disposable income to turn to donate to the club to field a standalone VFL side, so in the mean time continue to buy a membership and go to games, and if you're not doing either of those then you're just apart of the problem.
  13. No they do not control every aspect, there is a balance of control over everything that is done. To make it simple, Melbourne do not have the resources or funding to field a standalone VFL side so they need the assistance of Casey, Casey do not have the resources or funding to field a standalone VFL side so they need the assistance of Melbourne. Without each other they would both be in trouble.
  14. I wouldn't want to lose a Hogan/Petracca/Oliver in 2 years time because we overpaid a free agent thats cash grabbing. Free agents should be players who leave their club and want to come to us for a fair value to fill a void/make the team better to achieve a flag. If a free agent wants to come to us for x million over x years then they're not what we're after.
  15. Somewhat off-topic, recently I was thinking are any "football" clubs listed on the stock exchange, and I found out that some of the usual big names in soccer world are on some markets around the world. I don't know if it would work, but an idea none the less, as we have IG a sponsor these days and that the demographic of Melbourne supporters are involved in the stock market either as a profession or investor or both. But as another avenue of potentially raising funds, would there be enough benefits over negatives for the MFC to be a club on the market? While Memberships are great, I still don't feel like I'm apart of the club whether thats the aim or not, it would be nice if you could be involved by "owning" a share. Any brokers/financial experts in here that could weigh in on the pros/cons, might just be a stupid crazy idea thats in my head.
  16. Don't worry, the AFL will make something up on the spot as to why Richmond/Fremantle will get to upgrade a player.
  17. I wonder what his name will be in 5 years time?
  18. I was thinking that maybe the last thing that would make the alignment better is if there were another "home" ground that Casey play 2 - 3 games a year closer to the city. With curtain raisers coming back in vogue I think in 2018 we should be aiming to get at least 1 Casey game at the MCG which would be a stepping stone to maybe 2 - 3 curtain raisers in 2019. I know there are a number of people on here who make journey to Casey fields, credit to you, I went once in 2011, after a 1.5 hour journey then walked from the train station which didn't have a footpath on the main road to get to the ground, to watch an average game in the rain that had arctic temperatures, never again. While it will never happen I'd love it if the alignment was with Port Melbourne, has the name it in already, has the team colours, has the team song, has a ground in the inner suburbs with viable public transport.
  19. No, I haven't received mine either. Makes it kind of hard to go to the AGM when it requires your membership card.
