  1. If we smashed West Coast this week and thumped the Tigers, Suns and Port with a dazzling brand of footy then everyone on here would be pi**ing in Viney's pocket and spruiking about how it's all finally clicked.

As other Posters have suggested, who gives a toss how we get there. It'll all add to the teams learnings and hopefully fast-track their performance.

I doubt we'll make the finals too but hey let's get behind the team for the remaining games!

    Chin up you lot. :)

  2. Fact? Everything is assessment. I'm just an ordinary supporter, but do have a few friends who are well connected at the higher financial end. As other supporters will have found sometimes you do get invited along as a guest to a function and hear significant club people as the feature speaker reflecting on events. You also get the chance to talk informally with whoever you can grab hold of. Why wouldn't one take the chance to ask the questions you want addressed. So I have been fortunate lately to get this chance. Is my assessemtn FACT? It's the summation of what I have heard in speeches and a few one on one conversations. It blows one's mind when you see what is written in the press as if fact. Just be aware that Newspaper articles, never give sources, are never followed up , never address responses by the significant people who do reply to their article. Most journalists have moved on to another article. I personally am prepared to trust those who have the best interest of the club at heart. Journalists are purely self interested opinionated people. This is their livelyhood. They avoid accountability. They use extreme and colourful language to exaggerate their opinion. There is no other realm of life that is required to present information so unaccountable as the Journalist.

    Hmmm..

Well, based on your 'humble opinion', I do hope Garry can alternate between these behaviours and those that support club objectives.

  3. Sheedy will bag Melbourne at every opportunity now in the hope it puts further doubt in the mind of Scully and possibly other targeted players.

He will also keep giving a raving endorsement of Mark Williams as a senior coach at the Dee's so he can free up a position for his old Essendon mate in Bail's, and from there hope that the bond between Bailey and Scully will make Scully's transition to GWS all the more easier.

Sheedy's still a cunning old bugger.

  4. This club needs a strong football personality to steer them through the next few years

That is the last thing we need. Another footballer running the club. Get some serious business talent in there...

You are right - but so is Healy.

    We need both.

  5. Sylvia is a key player for our future

    Sylvia:

    119 games

    avg disposals: 16.6,

    avg goals: 0.8

    Tackles: 3.2

    Marks: 4.9

    Dale Thomas:

    126 games,

    avg disposals: 18.6,

    avg goals: 0.8

    Tackles: 2.8

    Marks: 5.8

Sylvia in a side which has lost 63% of its matches and Thomas in a side that has won 66%.

It could be argued (and probably will be in the contract negotiatons) that Sylvia is wasting his career on a losing proposition....so why does he stay? because he believes (or believed ) in the plan.

If there is anyone providing leadership at the club, show him the plan........FFS......show all of the talent that we've accumulated that having signed them we actually have some idea of what to do next

And show the rest of us while your at it

On basic stats, you have some weight in what you say but the other variables Thomas brings to the game is the obvious difference. I still doubt that Sylvia has the X factor like Daisy. Apart from a super long bomb goal from Sylvia, my eyebrows have rarely been raised compared to watching Daisy work his magic.

I doubt Daisy would struggle at the Dee's? It's players exactly like him we lack... Although, he is young and skinny I believe.

  6. We seem to be assuming Jurrah's been dropped for performance reasons?

Maybe his frame of mind following the past few days could have something to do with it. Personally, I think it's about time he had a run in the magoo's in the hope he finds some form.

  7. Instead he threw a hand grenade and left Jimmy to face the media on Monday, while he tried to look like a martyr on his Monday night TV show. Weak.

Glad I'm not the only one to have seen it that way. Lyon has got some work to do in the next six months to help the club out, not [censored] on in his tv shows.

  8. Let's see.

    1) It is generally agreed we need an experienced coach

    2) We need a strong character and leader

    3) We need someone who is clear thinking and a strong tactician.

    4) We need someone who the players want to compete for

I feel that we might be narrowing in too much on current candidates or recent retirees. Lets look further abroad, think outside the box and maybe even consider people who coached 3,4 or 5 years ago.

I welcome suggestions but wonder how people feel about Grant Thomas? His weakness may be his PR skills but I can guarantee you all one thing. The players would never be in doubt as to what is required.

    Anyone else?

Throwing an ego like Thomas's into an already dysfunctional (from all reports) football club, would only make things so much worse. The guys a dropkick.

  9. Anyone watch One Week at a Time?

So frustrating hearing those buffoons vent their spleen.

Loved how Wallsy said "Ignore their average losing margin of 66 points for a minute, they've still won 7.5 games"

Then almost seemed to take the credit for Brisbane's era of dominance.

Thanks for the heads up. Living in WA certainly does have it's advantages...

  10. You know, everyone is all about how rough Dean's copped it but let's keep in mind and perspective, how much this must be affecting Jimmy. I cannot start to believe how much stress this bloke is under and how much this must negatively impact his well-being.

That said, I wonder how much thought his best mate Garry Lyon puts into his public outbursts of disappointment? Not much I reckon.

  11. Or we could show some spine and beat Carlton next week.... knowing mfc its possible... the ultimate rollercoaster!!!

This part of the roller coaster is on a big down hill run... Don't expect too much next week other than Robinson getting a smack in the head (fingers crossed).

  12. Easily one of my favourite players, a fantastic leader who never takes a backward step. I can definitely see him becoming our next captain.

A leader, absolutely. An individual that starts things, anything, and motivates others to follow. His idea of handing out Norm Smith and Barrasi books and setting the tone regards this great clubs history is truly inspirational.

  13. Malthouse would be a mistake. Wrong personality for a very young developing group. Angry, small man, who denegrates people who don't see eye to eye with him. I think he's overrated. West Coast were the WA State team when he went their versus everyone else who were just Club teams. All he managed was two flags, it should have been 4 or 5. It's taken him 10yrs with the best facilities and limitless amounts of money to throw at the Football Dept and he's got one Premiership.

He has played off in 4 GF's though in that period with the Pies. Meeting the Lions during their peak was akin to us meeting the Bombers in 2000 so I think you're being a bit harsh on him.
