  1. My selection from the BF Tigers Board:

Don’t think we’ll be favourites. Posted by a master of understatement.

Langdon, Trac and Oliver are their three key midfield suppliers.
    Must curb them.
Someone to crunch Fritsch from behind. Presumably posted by an ex Richmond Citizens FC player, motto 'one in all in' and more than once banned from the comp. back in the day.

    * If we win this it would be some Magician pulling a win out of his ... (BF censors not as assiduous as DLand)

The problem with being at the top of the table and undefeated is we're bound to lose some time but I can never tell when so each and every game feels like a danger game

Much better feeling than wondering when we'll win one.  And we've all been there.

  3. More from BF.  Seems quite fair:

"First thoughts about the game this Saturday are these...

Melbourne's main strength is our main weakness in that they dominate teams with their intercept marking in their defence and our most glaring weakness who everyone can see except the coaching staff it seems is our inability to contest in our forward half and being able to hold the ball in. WORRYING. Sitting the ball on Himmelberg and Hogans head to watch Melbourne take 30 intercept marks is going to no doubt bring out the pitch forks from the GWS faithful.

Secondly kicking any kind of score against Melbourne seems somewhat impossible with them having conceded 71, 69, 70 & 36 points in the first 4 rounds of the year which makes it the lowest in the league. All the while our points for is ranked 14th in the league... So buckle yourselves in for Leon to make this the most boring game of football you have ever witnessed in your life. He might try for a soccer score type game of 2 goals a piece and hope we win the penalty shoot out at the end of the game.
With Preuss out we will get absolutely monstered in the ruck by Gawn & Jackson and Melbourne's wings will be all but licking their lips moving about the vast expanses of the MCG turf like field raised chickens while our wingers make sure we get more numbers behind the ball.

I feel (and hope) this could be Leon's last game as coach but no doubt our players will turn up and actually put in effort, not let the opposition walk around them and break our pathetic tackling and keep our season and Leon's career alive... PLEASE MAKE IT ENDFirst thoughts about the game this Saturday are these...

Mine finally came through literally 2 minutes ago. Try looking again now

Thanks for your reply. By what method did it come through? My 'ticket' just has a 'ticketmaster verified' footer and the More Options button is inactive (light grey).

  5. Has anyone cracked the ticketing system?  Reserved seat member. Followed instructions via app for ticket to pre season game and have been allocated a ticket - gate, section and seat all visible. Last step is to view barcode but I can't see that option.

Currently setting a record for on hold hearing the club song on repeat.  Any clues appreciated.

After being told he wouldn't be a full forward as long as his RRs pointed to the ground.

But really - Tulip, for all the reasons everybody else quoted. Even stood out in state of origin games.

I find it totally amazing that crowds are welcome at Casey Fields for the womens series, but gates are locked and I cannot get into Casey Fields to watch training, having to obtain a second hand view from outside the fence. I'm often the ONLY person there. Also you see contractors working inside the ground at these times as well. I'm triple vacced and wear a mask. Staggering really!

Nonetheless, we all appreciate the effort you make to keep us informed!

Reminds me of the one time Laurie Mithen took my Latin class. Wrote on the board 'Mihi Caesar es ergo. Forte dux in ero.' Which he translated: My eye, Caesar, here's a go. Forty ducks ion a row.'

....... and thanks for the training report. Much appreciated from one who wimps on the hour journey to Casey.

    Which one?

Eliminating mark and kick, the choices are:

    a) When he was the only one who knew the ball was touched and bounded through traffic to kick on the run;

    b) Bursting out of the centre to kick from 60 metres on the marginally more elegant run; or

    c) Outmuscled ruck in the pocket and kicked the goal even he did not think would go through.

Incidentally, well done team.  Few on line but 99 pages and rising.

  10. In a valiant attempt to get this to 100 pages by New Year's Day, when did you know we had won the GF?

For me it was that moment in the PF, so far ahead in the 3rd quarter but Gus and Hibbo were madly diving in the Geelong goal square to deny even a point. Then I thought 'they will not let anybody beat them'.

Same 😑 I had a (Premiers!) cap on all day so my face was spared. But I have badly sunburnt arms. I forgot that it’s been a while since the pasty whites have seen the sun. (Cheers for that, La Niña!)

Sitting in the open so have joined the raspberry faced squad. Just need a few bruises and it'll match my red and blue polo.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I key in my barcode and it comes up as invalid. Please someone help me, I won’t lie… I am hardcore stressing rn

The code in the email is different to the normal membership code. If still stuck, DM me. I have a spare.

  13. This will cause a major re-ranking among the table tennis players at the club.

I'm with those who, sentimentally, would like to see Jonesie in the role. Imagine the reception when he runs onto the ground as runner in a final.

Thats because they linked to The West Newspaper online site, you need to pay. Sorry I don't have membership there either.  Maybe on the AFL site?

there are browser extensions that can get around paywalls. I use Extreme Paywall Bypasser. It pays to turn it off when not needed as it can interfere with sites you have a paid subscription to.

If you're using an iPhone or iPad the best option is opening it with Apple books.

On a Samsung or android phone, youll need an ereader program - the app readera is pretty good. They're the epub version

I have a kobo reader - works a treat on that, and the kindle/mobi format is... well, it's for kindle. Both files are available on the download.

I've not tried transferring fom mobile device to mobike device, but if I was going to grab an ebook, I'd usually do it on my laptop then transfer to whatever I wanted to read it on. Cheers.

Also, allow me to make your life a little easier/cheaper with ebooks. Search for whatever book you like at the following link. Its the cheapest you'll find... as in, it's free :)

My daughter put me onto it. It's ridiculous. https://z-lib.org/

    Cheers

There's a brilliant program called Calibre which is supported by donations only, so free if you're skint, that converts any ebook format and has a built in reader. Highly recommend.

  16. Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb are absolute artists. Several years in a row trading up the draft. Most recently for Bowser and Laurie and before that for Kozzy and Rivers. I recall Taylor's excitement 'we're gonna get the Riv; we're gonna get the Riv' before the cheeseboard appeared.

Yes there are certainly some similarities- both read the game well both have good vision and decision making - but I actually think Bowey could be better by foot eventually - he can kick the ball low and fast with precision whereas Salem tends to kick it a bit higher and slower (still a good kick obviously)

Bowser also more comfortable kicking with non-preferred.

I laughed when I saw the official AFL teamsheets that had him matched to Ratugalea but figured he could always reach up and tickle him.
