  1. Wow Saints getting cruelled by a conpletely diff interpretation of the rules between the two teams so far. That PITB and the one against Pepper about the only ones they've called out of at least 5 to 6 others they've chosen to ignore. Oh and that soft sling
  2. The best rated offence going at the moment. Their "all ground" defence laat season was right up there also. Their weakness this year is their defence vs the counter attack where they're rated the worst. They're also the 4th worst team at defending the turnover behind North, West Coast and the Bombers. The Pies have also changed up their pressure / turnover focus this season. They've gone from focussing on turnover and their damaging sling shot counter attack off HB last year, to more of a forward half 'score off turnover' style so far this season. Rated only 2nd behind thr Blues in this area. They're presently rated 18th from scoring off back half turnovers this season! Port are the 5th easiest team to score against when the ball goes inside their D50. Only North are worse at winning ground ball in their D50. Their ground ball defense in D50 vs the Pies was the 2nd worst performance ever recorded by Champion data in their 25 years of monitoring. Might explain how the Pies were able to come back so well last week. Lastly, the Bombers, while rated 13th in getting first possession, are rated the 2nd best team at stripping the ball off the oppo and clearing the ball so far. After yesterday's performance i would under rate them at your peril. Starting to get their act together.
  3. He also said something along the lines of "looking forward to seeing him in a few weeks". Probably diff to that but a similar context. Also sone on here have said there's word that we are wanting him to play at least another game at Casey. Of course clubs gave been known to lie before but we might be looking at a debut vs the Blues for Smacca
  4. There is zero risk in bringing in Fullo or Verrall for Petty! It's a free swing and could help Roo improve his lot by focussing solely on his KF role. Unfortunately Petty has barely fired a shot in five matches. And a bit cruel by the SC to keep selecting him these last few weeks imv. Help the bloke out by allowing him time and space at Casey to try and find his mojo... reset & review in a few weeks time. He also has some of the worst numbers i've ever seen from a Demon player since putting player ratings together since 2017. And that's across the board In pretty much every basic metric. He's 61% down on his 2023 rating after five matches and the weekend was no different, where he posted a negative rating against one of the most injury riddled sides going around at present, sitting in second last spot. Many have said that JVR is not progressing as they would like or have expected to see this season in his role as a KF. Could Roo's growth as a KF have been stunted somewhat as a result of his time spent in the middle this year (12% CBA*) and to a slightly lessor extent last season (8% CBA*)? Is it just a coincidence that he attemds roughly 12% of all center bounces and that his rating ia also down by roughly the same amount (9%) so far this season? The decision to play either Fullo or Verrall in place of Petty this week is one of the easiest the SC could make and an absolute no brainer. * Courtesy of wheeloratings.com
  5. Hipwood smashed and caught red hot but still plays for the free throwing his head around and rolling his eyes after at the ump as if he's unlucky. Have to say i really dislike Brissy. Zorko, Hipwood, Neale, Answerth, Wilmot bah
  6. Now we just need Gold Coast to beat the Eagles. The filth will drop out of the eight and end up in 10th spot just above their Brissy mates Even if GC don't win the filth are still out but i'd love them to partner up in 10th & 11th spot respectively
  7. How's your night goin Answerth!??

  10. Team & Player Ratings to Rnd 6, 2024 vs H&A Season 2023 Team Rating looking ok, only 4% down on 2023 is very gettable. Maysie jumps ahead of Viney to take over 3rd place. Lever moves up two places to go ahead of Rivers & Clarry in 5th spot. Joey (Woe) the big mover from the rookies, up 13 places on his 2023 rank and his rating 56% higher. Keep in mind he's coming off a pretty low rating in 2023. 11. Hogan in fine fettle this year. Looks super fit and focused. Those sticky mitts really make a difference.

  17. Round 6, 2024 MCG - Tigers vs Demons The ANZAC theme appeared to spill over into the game with a brutal "in the trenches" first half, followed with a decent salvo in the second. Lever just pipped to the post by Maxy. I reckon they both deserved the medal with Rick having a massive 15 intercepts. Maysie back to his best and more! Tracc did pretty well considering the tag and Rivers continuing on with his improved form as the season rolls on. I believe there was some sort of Disco Inferno last night! Let's take a look at the young fella's forward foray! 10 effectives % 76.9 (above AFL average at approx 74%), 1 contested mark, 4 marks inside 50, 2 one percenters, 6 inside 50s, 1 tackle inside 50, 1 intercept, 380 meters gained, only 2 turnovers, 3 sausage rolls and our No.1 rated forward. Clarry still a long way off his 2023 (and prior) best but hopefully with another decent break he can recoup and come out all guns blazing against the Puddy Cats. Viney also way off his usual standards in these last two matches and can hopefully regain some of his early season form soonish. Chin a mile off his usual levels as well in this match. Similar to the Lions match, our top six players had a VG night. Eclipsing their 2023 average rating by over 8%. The bottom six not so good, still a long way down on the 2023 rating by a hefty 37%. An improvement vs the Lions result though, where they were a massive 61% off the 2023 average. 18. There is that conundrum DJ. BBB would probably have to be managed to fit him in. McAdam comes in this week or goes around once more at Casey? We played four talls at Casey over the weekend which was two too many already imv. Mid field stocks very ordinary. CHB it might need to be. He needs to get some touches. Cold as a wet fish playing in the seniors up forward at present.
  19. Off the field that's Melk at the moment. BBB probably provides some guidance when he's in the side? Agree though. An on field / in game forward line leader / general has been lacking for us when Melk's out of the team.
  20. Yes i reckon it's a must for Petty now Mike. Goody has certainly given him plenty of chances to improve and perform. However, sometimes a player just needs to reset and find the fitness & belief again at the lower level. Seen it work so many times before and no reason why it wouldn't for Harry. Personally i think it's mostly (60% - 80%) a match fitness issue with the remainder above the shoulders. A few matches under his belt with some more time and space to execute at Casey, the belief should start to return again and then the confidence and results should (in theory) follow. The other concern you have to ask... Has his mind / heart already left the building IF he knows he is moving on at year's end? That's not to say he's intentionally doing this. But if he's made the decision to do so, surely must be playing on his mind... possibly even "in game" at times? If that's the case then a spell at Casey is a non-negotiable. And as a coach you must ask him the committment question (without asking the question) by doing so. And what i mean by committment is "are you capable of putting that all behind you and performing at your very best each week for the remainder of your tenure?" If so all good. But seeing is believing. Of course he may be staying and all of that means diddly squat and it's purely a fitness/form/belief issue. Only time will tell
  21. Some being a bit harsh on Roo I thought he played ok doing his usual ruck chop out and in a more high forward role that many have been asking from him. Ok so he didnt clunk some marks and wasn't a prolific scorer. But some of his involvements and little one percenters were handy and team orientated. He'll come good playing this role more often i believe as it will help with his confidence, awareness and tank as he grows into getting out of his comfort zone as a mostly deep forward in the past.
  22. Yes actually seemed ok with the chat. Usually a few brief words and can't wait to end the interview. I'd say that's the most open i've heard Clarry since he joined. Kudos for him agreeing to do that. Not so happy with chunk's hand shake at the end though and neither was Clazz... grrr.
  23. Kozzie, Chandler and to a lessor degree ANB & Roo used to bring that. Kozzie & Chandler weren't bringing so much tonight from what i thought i saw. ANB spending alot less time inside 50 of late? Roo spending about 10% or so in the middle reduces his influence here vs prior years. We also used to see a small amount from Clarry. But not sure his two way running and second efforts around the ball are anywhere near his best from prior years so far. Petty also a long way off bringing any kind of pressure. Hopefully Kozzy & Chandler can up the ante next week with a few assists from the likes of Laurie & Windsor.
