Yeah I just re-read that, but it's kind of confusing, because what does the board need to review? We have members up for re-election and members who need to step down as they have run their full terms. My biggest hope is that the few remaining board members who are part of the lawsuit, step down. We cannot afford this endless litigation with he who shall not be mentioned, ruin another pre-season for this club.

I wholeheartedly agree, however contracts and the soft cap means that we can't just get rid of everyone. It will be Richo or Pert IMO, not both. Gus feel says Richo goes.

What trouble? She stepped aside without a fuss. She only has one year left on her term anyway. I think a good club and a good leader does just that. She saw us through some hard times and through some of the very best times, including 2 premierships, and financially we've never been in a better position. I think it was the right thing to do, but she has earnt my respect for what she did when she became president, and the gracious way in which she bowed out. I think from all the people on our board, he would be the most credentialed to lead a footy department review, having played the game, and also been involved at other clubs not just our own. At least we can be sure that he has the very best interests of our club at heart, and this is not some ego driven thing to retain his position.

Agreed. He was fine. Should have nailed his shot on goal tho. But considering what a big [censored] deal was made about him coming to Port and making their midfield the best in the league, you gotta laugh that they got smashed by Dangerfield, Bews, Atkins and Dempsey. Only Holmes is a serious star in that lot.

Port losing to Geelong at home, who were missing arguably their most important player in Stewart, was an all time great choke. Port has a great midfield on paper. In reality, their midfield has proven not to do much in finals. I know Butters was injured, so I'll give him a pass, but Rozee their captain with just 16 touches and JHF with 18 is very uninspiring. When a 36 year old is your best midfielder, you have to worry.

100 times better than Schache. A proven marking forward and goal kicker. Good injury cover and role player. If he costs us less than nothing, I’m all for it.

Lucky for us footy clubs are not in the business of screwing each other. What comes around goes around. We traded more than fairly for McAdams, and Adelaide will not want to short change us on Nibbler. In this business, you get a lot more done being fair than you do stomping your feet like a petulant child. Just ask Dodoro.

I reckon we’ve been approached by clubs for multiple players. Other clubs can smell blood. Just as I’m sure clubs are in contact with the likes of West Coast and any other club that’s seen to be struggling or in a review process. I complete believe what @goodwindees has posted, but even he clarified his original post as I think it made it seem like we are actively trying to trade Clarry, which is not the case. He even said later on thar he believes Clarry will stay.

So you’d take two first rounders even if those were in the late teens? Theres a big difference between two top 10 picks and two first round picks.

He is an exceptionally good player and would make us better. There is no doubt about it. If our midfield was stacked and we still had Gus I reckon we would be fine to trade away pick 5. However this season showed us that midfielders are the priority and pick 5 will likely get us a good one. I still think that the Houston deal changed when we realized how good our first round pick was going to be. When we were in the top 8, we were willing to trade it and probably made it known to Port. But things change. Besides, St Kilda wouldn’t be getting Houston if they were not losing Battle and getting a ridiculous first round compo pick in return. As if he’s worth that! There essentially swapping Battle for Houston.

I’m not surprised. They tried last year why not try again? Good luck convincing Clarry to move to Adelaide.

If the club thought that, then why chase Houston? Why not trade Viney? You might think we are in a rebuild phase, but I don’t think the club agrees. Besides Oliver just turned 27, he’s not exactly hitting retirement. He easily has 6 great years left in him if he gets himself back to fitness.

Trade rumours won’t get this site into legal trouble, nor are they slanderous towards anyone so I guess it’s not necessary to have them verified before they get posted. In normal seasons, trade rumors keep this board spicy. But I understand why it’s not a fun read these days.

To be fair Goodwindees has years of impeccable sources and a good track record. He’s not some random who signed up today to post trash. I think we are all just feeling trade fatigue at this point and it’s not even trade week yet
