  1. Happy one year anniversary to when I cried because we won a flag and because I wasn’t there to see it. Let’s hope this time next year I’m at the G and not our shopping to distract myself from the possibility of Geelong winning a flag.
  2. According to Tom’s instagram, he’s had screws taken out today and will be ready to go next season. News of his demise are premature.
  3. I’m frankly surprised Carlton aren’t interested in him. He’s a better player than OMac in my opinion. Makes sense the Dogs are looking at him. Their defense is utter rubbish.
  4. Do you honestly think anyone would recall such traumatic and triggering events to such fine details for [censored] and giggles? Of course every word spoken is the person's own, and of course thoughts and feelings are unique to every person, but to suggest those being interviewed made up these horrific allegations is pretty ridiculous. I have never met a woman who would lie about having an abortion. And I have never known an Indigenous person to lie about being vilified. If anything, people tend to hide those truths more than reveal them publicly. The fact that we keep suggesting over and over again that maybe these stories aren't true, is just our own way to try and deny what is clearly a systemic issue in our society.
  5. I hate that they refer to these allegations as 'historical'. There is nothing historical about it. It happened not that long ago, and basically everyone involved at the club at the time is still heavily involved in the AFL.
  6. Do you really think that anyone, let alone reputable journalists at a reputable publication, would release this stuff without any proof? And do you really think Hawthorn would launch an investigation into past behaviours themselves, if they didn't suspect bad behaviour? You don't burn your own house down for no reason.
  7. I do wonder how Buddy feels about all this. He remains probably the biggest Indigenous name to come out of Hawthorn.
  8. There is surely a mountain of evidence here. Why would Hawthorn themselves launch an investigation into their own culture if they didn't think anything was wrong?
  9. I think it's less about the payout, which I am sure the AFL will cover, and more about the fact that they finally landed what they thought was a master coach. Now they will need to start again.
  10. North Melbourne can't take a trick. Their board must be in full blown meltdown mode. I also can't imagine this would help Yze in his pursuit of a senior role, although there is absolutely nothing to suggest he was at all involved. It's just the optics really.
  11. No [censored] Gil. But I bet you will protect your mate Clarkson. He always gets what he wants from the AFL. Rule changes, draft concessions, the ability to racially vilify players. It's all fair game for some.
  12. Not too difficult to get medical records to prove things like abortions.
  13. Which only makes it worse. They preyed on the vulnerable and young. One player in the article mentioned he was lucky to be drafted. Hawthorn obviously felt these young first nation players 'owed' them their lives because they were drafted.
  14. There is this notion in AFL that the end justifies the means. Just look at the Essendon supplement saga, and the fact Essendon are seriously considering bringing Hird back. Clarkson will continue to be revered and untouchable because he won 4 flags. That is all that matters in AFL. It doesn't matter how many lives were ruined in the process.
  15. As a woman, reading this article made me sick to my stomach. Men should NEVER be allowed to make decisions relating to a woman's body or fertility, and nobody has the right to ever tell someone else how to handle their private family matter.
  16. Correct. I only care that we get well compensated. We got him a flag, a rising star and a 7 figure contract at 20 years of age. He can get us 2 early draft picks at a minimum.
  17. There are a small handful of things I hate about Sydney, but I could write a thesis about the people and things I hate about Geelong.
  18. 3 Things we can bank on next year 1. Clarry 2. Trac 3. Gawn *Injuries not included
  19. So May told Petty to go forward and Petty was like “yep sure dude I’m off”? And Goody knew nothing about it? In an elimination final? I call BS.
  20. That’s fair. We were comprehensively outplayed that game. The margin flattered us more than any other game this season.
  21. We also didn't have 100,000 members and millions of dollars. But still....
  22. I'll be drunk.
  23. I think the AFL had their own agenda. Firstly he's a big name player. Secondly Carlton were on the verge of making finals for the first time in a decade and were pulling massive crowds to games Thirdly it was clear that Cripps would feature heavily in the Brownlow. He had a great year and few at Carlton would steal votes off him, as Walsh had just an OK season and forwards don't win votes. As we all know, when it comes to certain players and clubs, the AFL likes to turn a blind eye to enable the best financial outcome for themselves. Cripps playing increases the chance of Carlton making finals, which increases the windfall for the AFL. It's that simple.
  24. But Miochek got 3 votes for kicking 4 Queens Birthday… … ok I need to let it go
  25. I will say it again. I like Cripps. He’s a gun player and comes across well. I liked him saying that he had to work hard on public speaking. I think it’s admirable to show vulnerability I have no issues with him winning a Brownlow. I do have a real issue with him winning one when he very clearly should have been ineligible.
