I definitely don’t disagree. But to be fair they have only won 2 in a row and those win have been against North and Richmond. They lost to Freo in round 5 and got smashed by the Saints in round 4. They aren’t the soft kill North are tho.

Game should have been done by 3/4 time. Adelaide were putrid in front of goal and then crapped their pants in the last. They went far too defensive when they had a tiny lead. It was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen.

Except the game…. Smith has been injured for 900 years. He won’t just waltz into the seniors after one game. And if you’re dropping two tall forwards for a utility and a defender, who is playing forward?

Correct. We got less for Jackson than Norf did for JHF because he was out of contract. We only got lucky that Freo are hot garbage this year. If they weren’t we could have ended up getting 2 crappy picks for him.

If we cared about winning by 100 or more we wouldn’t have subbed out Hibbo or had May on the bench for long periods in the last. Or start Oliver on the bench in both the third and fourth quarters (has that ever been done?!). We cared about winning and protecting our players after a grueling 5 day break and before yet another interstate trip. It was clearly the plan to come out hard in the first and ice the game by half time. After half time we saw a heap of midfield rotations. Trac spent a long time forward, Clarry was on the bench heaps. They rotated both wings and we saw some different midfield combos. When it’s round 7 you don’t take unnecessary risks when the game is already done and dusted. I care more about getting out of the game with a clean bill of health than May doing a hamstring with 5 minutes to go trying to stop a goal in a 90 point demolition.

At least when under contract it gives clubs the power to negotiate a better deal for themselves. See JHF vs Jackson trade.

Very good. I support this. For clubs to invest a first round pick is a big deal. Players should not be allowed to just up and leave because they didn’t get to the club they wanted. It makes a mockery of the draft. Should only be allowed to move on compassionate grounds in the first 3 years.

WHY WON’T GEELONG DIE

For mine Schache gets another week even though I thought he was average at best. You can’t bring someone new in for a week then drop him. It’s pointless. I didn’t like that they did it with Laurie either. Goody confirmed Petty is straight back in so that means we either play him back, give JVR a rest or drop Schache. If BB or Tmac have a sensational game today it complicates things even further. JVR might need a rest. Hibbo might be sore again. So we could tweak things to manage players. Another interstate trip in two weeks off another short break means we need to plan carefully. Port at home are no easy beats. We will need to be at our best to win. Next two games are the right time to rest anyone who needs it. It’s a long long season.

Game day is 12 days post concussion if you don’t count the actual day the concussion was sustained. That means he will be free to play if he feels ok. Goody confirmed he’s straight back in next week and that it looks like he will pass the protocol without issues.
